Being a wlw can also be embarrassing...
The FDS handbook popped into the back of my mind when I was making a handmade gift for a woman I haven't even met yet and I just 🤦 maaaybe I should cool it.
It's so easy to keep men at arm's length, (at least for me, they're rarely that interesting) But imagine if he was a teacher's aide for special needs kids AND ran a successful handmade birdhouse Etsy page on the side while also going to therapy and meditating regularly? 🥺 The compassion, the talent, the growth

Hahaha I wrote about this on another post. I love this sub because it's the perfect place for individual growth as a woman and so much support. I'm also wlw and find myself still being codependent and crossing boundaries I shouldn't. Most women are just hard wired to have a specific love language and it's so important to communicate. Otherwise I'll misinterpret and analyze and then feel insecure. A lot of the problem I think is me.

Yeah I love this community 🥰
My issue is that I thought I was straight, dating men from 18-24 and now, at almost 25, I'm just finding out what it feels like to pursue and date people I'm actually interested in, and I feel like a nervous teenager basically all the time. I went from absolutely killing it on dates with men, I never got nervous, I made them laugh, etc to now? Now I panic when my date moves closer to me on a bench? Who am I 😅

I've known that I'm bi since I was a teenager but I've never dated women, in part because of my conservative Christian parents but also because women lowkey terrify me in the sense that I have NO idea how to romantically approach or pursue them. Men are so easy, they have the depth of a kiddie pool. Women are like a whole ass ocean.
[–][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Excuse my extreme generalizations, but if I had to compare dating women vs men in my experience, it's like the difference between planting a seed and nurturing it forever, and just buying a fake plant.
With guys the comfort is already there and then stays stagnant forever, never really getting much deeper than a close guy friend. And I still don't know if that's a gay thing or just men and their lack of emotional depth. Jury's still out.
They're so easy, but what is the point? It's real easy to get your hands on 11 hamsters but theyre a lot of work, won't love you very deeply, and they'll make your house smell. No shade to straight women my heart really goes out to you

LOL I’m am guilty of going all out for women. That being said it’s sooooo cute tho and they’re so appreciative and it’s returned and I just can’t stop myself 🥰
I used to think lesbians were crazy until I started dating more women and all of a sudden I was like ohhhhh I get it now. Women are amazing and inspire me to be extra haha

Reminds me of a tiktok posted here where a woman was speaking absolute nonsense to her boyfriend over facetime and he just kept replying with generic, "Oh?" "Okay," "Right, right," clearly not listening to a single word she said.

The bar is so low, Satan is using it to limbo in hell.

Haha I was just talking to my friend about this. How rare it is for guys to ask us questions or listen to us. Even if we are having sex with them. Pathetic. Seriously I just want to date a girl right now.

You know what? I tried to think of an instance where men really listened to me, but I can't remember any. Plenty of women does though. I am a good listener so I listen intently when people are talking, but women usually asks me what is my opinion etc. after they are done talking. Men tend to just continue on and on and on forever.

I dated a dude who busted out a pair of nail clippers and started letting the clipped off bits fly wherever while we were on a date. We were in a fucking restaurant.

Oh my god. What is it with men who do this? I once was doing a once-over of the office before I left for the night. Last one out. Common courtesy. I went into the back office room that one of the younger biz dev guys had been using for calls all day.
TELL ME WHY I found a neat little pile of nail clippings on the corner of the table when there was a bathroom with a trash can mere steps away. Some woman is going to have to deal with that one day because she likes other things about him and I just 🤮
Anyway, I texted the guy’s boss and it was never an issue again. I just have to ask why it was ever an issue to begin with.

Trim, yeah file though? No single men file their gatdamn nails and I’m over here like what the actual fuck man. And you want to touch me places with those shredders? Fuck no.

In all honesty, it is the beginning step of demonstrating value: hearing your words. Now, this is not to say we can jump to subsequent assumptions that your words are being “acknowledged” or “followed” or “respected”. But, it’s a start.
I had a null-value-man (ie one that was too new to ascribe any value to) in his first phone conversations with me demonstrate NO evidence of listening to me. Want to take a guess as to his final value assessment? 🙄

I just keep my reaction to attractiom to myself. I leave a room where a good looking man is. He doesn't need to know
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i sometimes wish a was a male not so i would feel safer in the world and not having to worry about periods or pregnancy, but so i can be a major dick to everyone and still have a loving partner who worships me 🥰
[–]mierduhFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s not though - as long as you have standards. Friend pointed this out to me recently when I said something akin to this. We aren’t attracted to all men anyway so when we say shit like this we just mean men we’re attracted to. If you have no standards and keep the bar on the floor, then sure, but if you have standards and are only attracted to those men then there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Otherwise this kinda rhetoric just lets men get away with it imo and makes it seem like a genetic issue as opposed to a societal one. Like we can just all demand better

Sadly I’ve actually said this about online dates because most of them just talk about themselves.
