I have never received emotional support from a man in my entire life. I've always had to turn to women. Whereas men CONSTANTLY get emotional support from only one source, their wives/girlfriends/mothers, placing an undue burden on them.

When I was doing a medication abortion at home (which I was passing off as a miscarriage because my abusive ex said he'd kill me if I ever aborted) he made it all about him and his emotions. I didn't get an ounce of comfort from him as I lay weeping, the baby I'd wanted dying inside of me because I'd made a painful choice to prioritize myself as I needed to escape him and knew I never truly could if we had a baby together.

He used it as an excuse to start openly using in front of me because he "couldn't handle it". I ended up comforting him because his pain at losing the pregnancy he'd coerced me into conceiving in the first place was more important than mine. Nevermind that I was obviously the only one physically going through it, he felt the need to remind me several times that this was his loss too and that he was just as hurt.

I wish I had saved the comment, but there was a great thread about something like this on another subreddit recently. The tl;dr is men want all these people to rally behind their social causes, however, they don't do it themselves. For example, some men lament about how prostate cancer doesn't get the same attention as breast cancer, but it's not like that couldn't happen if they rallied behind it.

I'm all for normalizing men seeking emotional support but they need to be the ones doing it. We ain't doing the work for them.

God this has to be a joke. Men are in constant need of emotional support and that’s why they drain the women around them. Most men I know are pure drama queens, Maybe men should work on going to therapy, or actually making long term friends with other men.

Men don’t offer support without an ulterior motive- which is usually easier access to sex. Pickmeisha’s on the other hand, will build up a man who treats them like shit & leeches off them, just out of kindness & naivety hoping he’ll change. That’s the difference.

Not enough men protect women & actively use /abuse & cheat on them. Women are expected to pick themselves back up everytime & show 0 damage. Whilst raising kids by themselves. Men fight us tooth & nail against rape /violence /misogyny etc...but expect us to get the violins out for them bc they suffer under the same misogyny they peddle & defend.

Most see struggling women as discounted pussy- a wounded gazelle, easier to manipulate & use. They openly boast about preying & feasting on younger women from dysfunctional homes with mental health/parent issues. That’s why those ugly /broke ‘nice guys’ will zoom in on women out of their league when they’re new to a city, fresh out a breakup or going through something. Bonus points if your parents are abusive & you’re estranged. Always when you’re vulnerable & needing company. They’re opportunists. That’s why those ex male friends spit their dummy out when sex isn’t on the table & no longer want to hear anything about your life but expect you to listen to all their issues & give them advice. Men are selfish- period.

Why then are women expected to mommy grown ass manchildren who don’t even treat us right or help protect us? Who mock & fight feminism? To build their esteem so they can manipulate the next one better?

Lol a lot of men create their own problems by being a compulsive liar, cowardly & immature. They will still bend the facts in therapy. They think strength is denial. They can whinge in a therapists office instead of distracting women from their goals any longer. We’ve done more than enough for them with nothing but BS in return. Seriously no one has to know they’re attending therapy since it’s private & confidential but they act like they can’t pick up a phone & its their gf’s job. Most don’t want to be fixed either- just offload the guilt & blame. Feel sorry for themselves. Have a finger to point & someone pander to their self-sabotage. Oh look it’s not me, I’m a victim. Men actively shame each other for expressing emotions & call eachother simps for treating women with respect but somehow women are meant to fix them? Men are the ones training eachother to be stoic & mute everything- women have been trying to get to them to be honest for centuries since that’s kind of important to a healthy relationship. They expect we exhaust ourselves for the tiny chance they turn out different...for cheating & lies in return. Women aren’t the issue here, men’s refusal to be emotionally open & take responsibility is. Their refusal to let go of misogyny & fix themselves. And I wish more lib fems would grow a backbone & see that con of pandering to misogynists for what it is. You don’t pander to your oppressors bc they’re not out here cheerleading for us. Men mostly roll their eyes at women’s issues & trauma. If they truly cared about women & the societal issues as a whole, they wouldn’t fight against (real) feminism. They’d be in our corner, protecting us. Ask yourselves why they aren’t when we birth them all? Ask yourself why we keep on having to drill it in them with no real change? Why should we waste anymore time building up the egos of men who oppress women & don’t support us?

I actually agree with the image in that I’m all for male mental health and men expressing sadness (and other emotions ofc but it seems that men are encouraged to be angry a lot and that clearly leads to a lot of problems), but it baffles me that the same men who repeatedly cite male mental health as a reason why men are oppressed deny the existence of gender roles and toxic masculinity (a term literally made by MRAs to address male issues, but when women began using it in the same way, it suddenly became misandrist even though it addresses male issues) and can’t acknowledge that unhealthy behavior in men really isn’t uncommon and often emerges in their relationships. It’s almost as though repressed emotions and an inability to express oneself are directly related to anger and emotional issues and violence. And it’s almost as though emotional issues are a problem in relationships, especially since girlfriends/wives are often seen and used as men’s sole emotional outlets.

Plenty of women want men to be able to embrace their emotions too, but so many dudes don’t seem to get that they can’t actually solve the issue without addressing the real problems here (gender roles/the patriarchy/toxic masculinity)
