Men have one for women (that sub about "nice guys" response to the sub making fun of them) , why shouldn't we return we favor?

Perhaps a DAA (dating app addiction/anonymous) meetings strictly for women?

Bar the male threats: I personally think if there's a safe space for women-only gathering to support each other to get off dating app it'll be very helpful. Including 'mentor/sponsor' system.

The hardest bit is that because it's an online platform, our life is inextricably linked to 'apps' these days.

It's difficult to 'escape' the online realm , and having a support person is definitely useful to bring the addicted back to 'reality'.

I've known 2 people to get married off of dating apps. They settled for the most consistent guys... the ones who call or text 24/7 and you have to hang out with them at least 4 times a week. Yikes.

I used OLD briefly a few weeks ago post break up, both as a distraction and to remind myself that he isn't the last man on Earth.

The quality of the men has taken an absolute nosedive since before the pandemic. I've never swiped left so much, and I'm not going back on there for at least a few years, if at all.

Dating apps make money by offering men women to prey upon. Women should boycott them.

If you don't like the current state of dating and relationships, remember that a large part of what we're experiencing has to do with dating apps:

-- women being treated like objects to "shop" for

-- women being treated as disposable objects

-- men perceiving that we're easily replaceable

-- men using us for sex

-- increase in harassment and lewd messages

-- women getting sexually assaulted on dates

-- women being asked to go 50/50 on dates because men are having so many dates a week that they can't afford to take women on proper dinner or lunch dates

It's gross. Women who use these apps are participating in their own oppression. They're also increasing their chances of meeting lazy LVM who have poor social skills such that they can't meet women outside in the real world.

I think we are about to see a backswing. These apps have ruined dating and everyone is getting sick of it. Men are just realizing more slowly.

30% of couples met online according to a university of Stanford study from 2007-2017 and another one I found said 1/4 current marriages formed online. Furthermore, marriages formed online are happier, read the links below for some studies backing this up.

FDS does not oppose OLD. I get a lot of women don’t want to use them and that’s respectable. It also depends on what city or town you are I imagine. But for those of us who do there’s no shame. Of course it makes for a better dinner story to say you met IRL rather than you swiped right on your bf/spouse on Bumble.

Since joining FDS I’ve taken a break from dating for the past month except speaking to one man who a did a video call with. But thanks to jointing FDS my approach to OLD is much different. I will also only do a video calls first. And I will still relying on OLD as my main way of meeting men, now that things are opening up there’s no excuse to not get out there and go back dancing and networking etc.

All this is to say that I wish there were more posts on how to navigate OLD. Because I’ve always been super cautious I’ve never had a negative OLD experience till the last 2 (in a row, this was after meeting quite a few men online and one of my ex’s I met online). The past 2 were negative because I chose to ignore the red flags being in a bad mental space in my Life and hence why I discovered FDS.

I’ve heard that in the future most couples will have met online. We have to adapt to technology. My brother met his fantastic wife online (been together for 4 years and just had a child). My cousins both Ivy League educated met their gfs online.

For me, it was very closely after finding my ex boyfriend's (who I met on an app) mugshot in a newspaper for trying to solicit sex from a 14 year old. The opioid nature of narcissism just felt very boring and depressing after that. I'm still not emotionally the same. I was orphaned as a young child but I wasnt emotionally hardened until this experience. I am only just warming up to people again, 4 years after the fact. Today at work, my friend asked me a question and my first thought was "she is only asking me this to test me and humiliate me." I literally think in paranoid terms, in every innocent situation, after intensive therapy... years of work... for what? Just avoid apps' they are playgrounds for predators.
