Misogyny isn’t anything new, of course, but it’s practiced more openly under anonymity, which Reddit provides.

You know what else reddit provides a lot? Porn. A whole lot of it. In every fashion you can imagine and a lot you can’t.

Men have become completely, hopelessly addicted to pornography. This generation of young men are the first who grew up on a steady diet of constant internet pornography and the pathological, compulsive masturbation that often accompanies it. What feels like a resurgence of woman-hating to us older gals is really just the logical outcome of generational pornsickness.

I think it’s going to get worse, especially with a misogynistic rapist in the White House.

Im 27 years old and only just discovered reddit. In my head i try to tell myself ‘not all men are like the lonely outcast freaks that have reddit accounts’. But realistically, a lot of what is said on reddit is said in a conversation with a group of men off reddit. They are all zombified porn addicts and they have no idea what its done to them. Because a large portion of the entire world hates women.

As others have said, the anonymity makes it easier to express these views but it’s really nothing they won’t say on any environment where they feel it’s ok to. That’s why they all need to be shamed back into the little dark holes they crawled out of. That’s why I fight with people on and offline, even though I know I won’t change their minds. Two things:

It's mostly LVM in those places. Think about it. Do you think HVM spend a lot of time on porn and redpill subs? They don't need that shit. They're out living real lives with real women they respect, and who respect them.

Also, men are at their worst in all-male (or anonymous) groups. They try to one-up each other with pseudo alpha male bullshit. We've all seen it in real life. A lot of these dudes are sad little posers posting from mom's basement. They pretend to objectify women to look cool. They'd stammer and pee on themselves in the presence of an actual woman.

I have come to despise reddit for this, and the majority of “relationship advice” subs are lonely men telling everyone to break up and watch porn - it’s awful. I hate reddit honestly, I just keep to my very few positive groups.

I swear I think a large deal of the propaganda passed around is funded by big money: political entities wanting to push fascism, porn industry, other groups/industries that rely on misogyny to fuel their bank accounts and to sway voters. It’s probably not that hard to pay trolls to post all over Reddit and spread their vitriol or to pay them to go on other online platforms where young men in particular like to congregate. Online platforms have long since stopped censoring blatantly sexist or racist content. Online misogyny has increased 1000x compared to the internet early days.

This is on top of socialization, religious indoctrination, and economic inequality that is already firmly in place.

The majority of Reddit is mostly young guys in their twenties and thirties who spend a lot of time inside playing video games and going on Reddit / porn Men don't hate women, but quite a few of them on Reddit do. if you ever met a guy who mostly just plays video games and stays inside on his computer, it's likely he hasn't had very much success with women. Easier to blame women for your lack of casual sex or dating options instead of turning off the computer, going outside getting some exercise, getting a haircut and reading a book.

Also am I the asshole Reddit triggers me so hard because I trust my own judgment of myself and I'm not about to be gaslighted by a bunch of judgemental idiots at their computer. the best thing I did for myself it's just start taking my own gut feelings and judgment seriously. in real life this translates to refusing to debate with people. I no longer help people conversationally masturbate. you know when you feel kind of a pressure to ask them interesting questions, lest they think you are quiet or weird? I no longer do that. If I don't want to debate with someone, I just give them short polite responses even if they get angry or think I'm weird or dumb. The book not nice by Aziz gazipura really helps with this.

Keep in mind that reddit is full of autistic men who are usually in STEM, more specifically programmers, since reddit was originally intended for programmers to discuss things. Overtime it just became a place for men with poor social skills and a shitty outlook on life to gather and that’s what it’s current state is. Now that women are starting to frequent the website more often, they’re getting angry because they feel like their space is being invaded.
