It's a very ancient theme. Enkidu in the Epic of Gilgamesh is a wild man who becomes civilized by this temple prostitute called Shamhat through sex, basically. Later he curses her because it led to him being trapped in the underworld, but then is convinced to change his mind and he says that all men will desire her and shower her with gifts.

And civilization is feminine in a way, because that taming can only happen through a social contract. It's more beneficial for women than men, to some degree. A pretty big theme in feminism by the way is the idea that under patriarchy nature is seen as a feminine that is tamed by man. But you can easily flip that around like this article does, it just doesn't get talked or written about as much.

Besides the tired misandrist trope contained in "if boys can get away with being boorish, they will happily do so".. Even if things were like that, what price would the women pay, really? Do these people think we live in a world where the government doesn't exist? How is the fact that men are stronger than women an issue at all, when the police is stronger than any individual, regardless of their strength? This is just groundless nonsense.. Chivalry existed exactly because women weren't protected by the laws of government as much as they are today, and it's the same reason why it died: there's no reason to put up a facade of goodwill and servitude when there isn't any violent/predatory intention to hide behind it.
