There's this lie perpetuated that "child support" is for the child, that's just a fake name.

Child support is just alimony for the mother to assist the mother in supporting the child. There's not a single requirement she spend a dollar on a child.

It is entirely for her.

there is no way to change it. It can't be audited, it can't be targeted "only for the child" because money is fungible and that means nothing. $380 a week is way more than a child needs in any way.

You either do away with it completely, in which case men won't ever provide for children and just fuck and run, or this system, where you pay the money. The only thing you can do is document it and try a modification or evidence for CPS or something.

Child support has nothing to do with kids. It's purely wealth transfer.

You know how you actually make child support be for the kids? Require the money actually be spent on their behalf.

My solution would be to figure out how much it costs to raise a child in a given area, which we already have data on, and make each parent responsible for 50% of that amount. The money would be automatically deducted from their income and placed into an HSA type of account where both parents can draw from FOR AUTHORIZED EXPENSES.

If charges are questionable then the parent has to explain themselves and file receipts, and some things will be denied outright if they're on a banned items list that are obviously not kid related.

Same thing happened to me. Child support for 2 daughters. Female judge ordered mother to go to work and she did not managing to just use child support for 5 years to barely scrape by. My daughters went without and shopped at thrift stores and such. ( not that that’s bad ). When child support ended or close to it, she went back to work just proving what a piece of shit she really is. If children were first priority, then she would have went to work and had support money. But really she just wanted to punish me through the children.

I paid $1100 a month to my sons mother, and over the course of 12 years she was evicted 8 times for not paying her rent. My son had to go to 4 different schools growing up cause she didnt care where she lived. For the money I paid her, she couldve easily bought a house and gave my son some stability in his life but instead she spent it all at the bar getting drunk and 3 DUIs over that same period of time. I had filed for custody 3 times and lost all 3 because they said that I worked too much and would have to have my son in child care where if she retained custody he would spend more time with him cause shes a "stay at home mom"

The divorce laws suck, it’s unfair and I call it the “legal” violation of individual property. Mothers get over 90% of the child custody and the father has to pay child support, and the court never monitors where those money is being spent on, the money is for child’s needs not for the mother. I dated a single mom over 20 years ago who had to very young daughters, (5 and 4 year old). After about 5 months, she became a total psycho, constantly yelling at her kids and me, (she was most likely a psycho when we met, but the pussy was good). I finally had enough and broke it off with her, hated to do it because I couldn't have loved her daughters any more if they were my own. Never heard from her again, but one day about 5 years ago I see any obituary with a fimilar name on it, same as one of the daughters. I'm hoping it just a coincidence, I check more and my fears come true, it the younger daughter. After reading the obituary, it doesn't say it but it sounds like a suicide. On top of that the older daughter has nothing to do with her mother, I feel like a dodged a bullet. I wish I could have stayed in touch with the girls for their sake, maybe the younger one would still be alive.

I grew up in a single parent household. I can attest that this happens all the time. My father, who my mother vilified (he has his own issues but him paying the child support wasn't one of them) and brainwashed my sibling and I to not like him.

Child support payments are meant to take care of children, my mother used it for the mortgage payment. I understood until she remarried, and had everything taken care of by her ass of a husband. I had three shirts, three pairs of pants and three pairs of shorts. She wasted the money so she could out with her husband and drink all night. My sibling and I rarely had enough clothes to wear, and asking for new ones or new shoes was always a big issue.

I never put into perspective what my father went through until I got older. He picked us up all of the time, my mother never drove us to his place. My dad doesn't have a great job and he was raked over the coals for years, living on frozen meals and cereal. I understand why he got frustrated. But through all of that he never bashed my mother in front of us. My mother never showed the same courtesy, instead telling us lies about how he cheated on her because he didn't love her any more. But she never told us that the reason was because she was too busy trying to relive her teenage years while my father took care of us while we were younger.

He's since told us that he handled it the wrong way, he shouldn't have cheated. But I don't blame him, and my heart really goes out to fathers in this type of situation or worse. Doubly so if they were the one cheated on and now have to jump through hoops just to see their kids.
