This has been the running theme on social media since this bill passed. It's really starting to piss me off. This amendment didn't come out of nowhere. This was voted on in our general election last election. That election had a 49% voter turn out. Of that, another 5 % of voters didn't vote on that amendment. 40% voted no. Alabama's population is split about 50/50 men/women. That means a little over 10-12% of Alabama's women actually showed up to vote no against this bill and protect their rights. Then somehow I'm the asshole for being born with a penis. I actually showed up and voted against this. I can't help other people's laziness and apathy.

I'm told that being a man means I don't deserve an opinion. My opinion is that I simply don't care. I don't pay attention to stances on abortion, I abstain when the question is brought up directly, and in general I am OK with the status quo as it stands. Regardless, I am in a stable long term relationship that, if a child did come into the equation despite all of our attempts to prevent one, we'd be OK regardless.

I won't do anything to stop them, but after these sorts of people have treated me, I am certainly not going to help them either.

Im pro-choice and I can agree with this sub on many topics, but I think that in this case it isn't an assault on men's rights. She is hopefully, trying to turn the logic around and demonstrate the hypocrisy of the abortion bill in that if life begins at conception, then both sides should be restricted as both are contributors.

This is what I have inferred and it's not just a straight up attack on men. Furthermore, the fact that this had upset some as a men's rights issue is supposed to make the men that signed the bill realize they were assaulting women's rights.

Edit: I scrolled through some more Reddit and found several posts about Viagra being government funded, so this makes more sense. And just wanted to add that I don't necessarily agree with restricting any consenting adult's sex life or what they want to do with the consequences. Abortion, adoption, not forcing either one to be parents when they don't want to be, I'm all good with. Forcing people to be parents when they have no desire or aren't prepared is a shitty way to force a kid to grow up in the world
