So yeah this is pretty bad but at the same time, she's got a legitamite mental disorder. And she's still going to prison for an entire year then taking a month long program. Considering the guy didn't suffer any lasting damage, I'd say that's perfectly fair.

I'm surprised to see so many jumping to the defence that she's suffering from a mental health disorder, when the reality is if your reaction to any situation (other than defending yourself) is violence then you too also suffer from a mental disorder. The majority of violent offenders who are in prison for large lengths of time have mental disorders, it's not really an excuse for lighter sentancing.

To be fair she does sound ill. In which case she should be committed to an asylum. Worth noting this usually means she won't get out, at least not out quicker than she would if she just went to prison.

We have to consider that putting a murderously violent hoarder into prison is not going to end well for anyone concerned. The compulsion to take things and hoard them and react with violence to that being challenged, in the context of a prison environment, will quickly result in either her dead, or one of her peers.
