That Jezebel article at the end illustrated my point in another post perfectly: "If a man ran up and tried to steal a woman's purse and she kicked him in the balls and got away they'd all be cheering, "Go grrrl!" No one would feel bad for the thief either."

Even better, the man in their article didn't even try to rob the woman, all he had to do was say something the woman didn't like. She punches him then gets nothing but high-fives and congratulations from the fembots.

It's not exactly hypocritical, because /mr never said that him punching her was the right thing to do. It was a case of mutual abuse, since the CDC does classify what she was theoretically attempting to do as reproductive violence.

Whereas Jezebel apparently does think punching annoying men is acceptable behaviour.

That's... disproportionate, is it not?

On the one hand some /mr members did not condemn the abuse he perpetuated. On the other Jezebel actively promotes violence against men.

I guess hypocrisy doesn't have to make sense.

So basically:

~~MRAs are so desperate to buy into these types of stories that they don't even question them~~ FALSE: it was widely doubted
~~MRAs are so blinded by hatred of women that they condone violence against them~~ FALSE: the assault was largely condemned
Men should be insulted for being so macho but also shamed for having any emotions about being manipulated
Men should never hit women for any reason but it's praise-worthy for a woman to hit a man for saying something that she doesn't like
A single thread on this one message board is indicative of the entire men's rights movement, but the feminist movement is not represented by any of its member's actions, no matter how widespread.

And they constantly refer to the "unrealistic" dialogue. This is Reddit. Surely they've heard of Poe's Law by now.

Judging feminism as a whole on the misandrist things most (of the many) feminist writers, academics, and policy-makers have said is "generalizing them unfairly," but judging MRA as a whole on cherry-picked anonymous Internet comments from a baiting thread isn't. Got it.

This whole ordeal pissed me off. Women like them are what's detrimental to equality for everyone. I really wish it stopped being an "us vs. them" mentality, and developed into a more "equality for everyone" deal.

I subscribe to this subreddit because I agree with your stances. I'm tired of feminists trying to push double standards that, frankly, are quite insulting to women. I don't want to be treated poorly because I'm a woman, but I'm also not so weak and frail that I need everything handed to me.

MensRights, your efforts aren't lost on all women. Keep up the good fight. :-)

As someone who didn't even know about this subreddit until recently and wasn't around for the whole shitstorm, my opinion is that you guys took the bait pretty hard but I can't really blame you for it.

The troll post in question does have some red flags, but assuming everything was factual I can sympathize with a lot of the reactions and comments which were made. It was the story of a desperate man looking for answers and this community did their best to help in whatever way it could.

The real tragedy here it the fact we have yet another cry wolf story which may prevent someone with a legitimate need for help receive the assistance they deserve.

I just don't care about the kiddo. I mean, he/she did a very disgusting thing: That was not a "trick", it was a scam (there is a huge difference). So, big mistake; the only thing the kiddo proved is his lack of morals.

About the "accusation" of "violence against women" by the MRAs, that's something I don't buy. If I were the victim of a theft, attempted paternity fraud and blackmail threat, in a situation of "panic" and high distress, I would have punched the criminal.

By the way: Don't get fooled by the word "hitting". Have you ever hit (or been hit by) somebody in the stomach? That person will kneel -at least-, and probably will be knocked-out (it may even cause bleeding and blood spitting). A punch in the stomach if very painful... unless it's not really a "punch" but a very weak hit.

The description makes clear the girl wasn't harmed. "Violence"?... No, no, "violence" is another thing.
