Mental Gymnastics in that Article is insane.

They blamed Men's loneliness upon their lack of vulnerability with other Men. While ignored that Society becomes hostile at the idea of Men-Only Spaces.

The article states that because Men don't show Vulnerability to other Men, they offload it to Women in their lives (Wife / Gf). And it's too much emotional labor on her part that she has to play the role of Unpaid Therapist. Apparently, men are supposed to show vulnerability around other men only. If they show it to women, it's too much for her to bear.

So, they are basically saying - "Men should solve their emotional loneliness by being vulnerable around each other. Don't bother women with that. Why? Because, women will be too busy labeling man with Mankeeping when he is vulnerable & Toxic Masculinity when he isn't vulnerable enough to her. She can only wait for him to fix his emotional problems through his male comrades & then come back to fix her emotional chaos.".

Is this not literally what men are also expected to do for their partners - on top of paying for everything and fully holding the weight of their financial future?

I'm mad confused. I don't understand why this is considered 'unpaid emotional labor' for women but not for men?

EDIT: So, I just went down a rabbit hole about this and basically sociologists and feminist scholars acknowledge the bias in labeling women's role in heteronormative relationships as 'unpaid emotional labor' and also acknowledge that they're completely ignoring men's emotional labor (which is conveniently labeled 'gendered pressure' or 'emotional harm'), but basically it's okay because what men are expected to provide falls under 'patriarchal cost.' Which is basically just saying they created a system so it's okay to exploit them.

I've already told my spouse that if something were to happen, (death, divorce etc.) that I was not jumping into a new relationship. If It's quiet without a woman, then I'll enjoy the solitude.

I've often said women don't care about your problems. They don't, I've been saying that for years and even in this subreddit. This article proves what I've been saying for at least three or four years here. That's why it's best to not engage them with stuff like this as they don't care usually and now it's such a burden they write articles saying such. Women have it easy, they always have a support network. Meh don't have shit.

If you're in a long term relationship or marriage it's best to figure things out yourself. Therapy might help, but I've found it didn't help with anything that requires a man's approach. What I mean most therapists are women and give that kind of thought when it comes to issues. If you're a man and you take advice from a woman on "how to be a man" or how to navigate something you'll find that another woman will be turned off or repulsed.

Ironically I've dated and was married to women who didn't even really remember my birthday ket alone knew if something was going on with me. Why? They don't care. They live in a bubble and get upset if you bring in any drama to that bubble and expect you to listen to their drama.

If you're struggling with stuff and want to share some things I would try to find another guy you can talk to. If you do talk to your girlfriend or wife expect them to get the "ick" and act differently or break up. You have to understand women for what they are, they're not made to cope with men's problems nor do they want to.
