Why should shows be different to any boulevard article? If men cheat it's because they are animals that can't control themselves. If women cheat there is something their partners can't give to them. It just has to be the men's fault, it's impossible that women sometimes have an itch between their legs, too.

Most shows for women are about how some wealthy, traditionally beautiful and muscular man drops his whole life and moves the world for the woman.

It's become so normalized that it's ridiculous to me. And even in shows for men or both, they're constantly dropping propaganda now about women being paid less, or have no rights, etc.

It's way too common nowadays because "women have no agency" when it comes to them hurting others, and if somebody doesn't have agency, they cannot be responsible for their actions. Basically the "I'm baby" meme but taken seriously and applied in practice.

Many of the wokes want to basically normalize polygamy, whether only for women or anybody varies, but that's one of their goals. And not polyamory, they conflate these two all the time but very few people can work with that or even know how it should work, and those people are at least honest about it upfront so you as a monogamous person won't go into that relationship, polyamorous people respect that. And as we know, there is no such thing as a compromise and differing valid opinions in the minds of the wokes, they think they're 100% right about everything and everybody who disagrees is the enemy of our civilization.

Noticed this when I found out my wife was cheating. One my wife’s friends at the time was two times divorced and cheated both times. She currently had multiple boyfriends and sugar daddies. I confronted my wife about who she was hanging out with and maybe that influenced her decisions but she defended her friend and said her actions were 100% correct and justified. Blew my mind.

Yep, I watched a movie about this guy losing his wife and being in denial, the guy goes bat and destroys his house, turns out she had an ecography and was pregnant but few child wasn't his. The mother had crashed in a car accident where he made it out alive but she died. Well, while the family was commemorating her, her mother tells him that she was pregnant by another man and than she would have kept the baby but her daughter chose not to. I mean wtf? And he was supposed to take it to the chin unflinchingly. Wonder what happened if he made her raise a child she didn't want to in a movie, probably an upheaval or something

Most probably the writers, producers, etc., are just trying to produce a show that is popular and gets renewed so they don't have to go looking for new overpaid jobs. But that said, it's telling that they thought this sentiment would be appealing to an audience presumably women.

If it's any consolation, largely "the party is over" for 'culturally white' women with massively abusing the protections and privileges' that have been afforded to "protect" them. The abortion ruling substantially increased the "cost" of basically 'being a massive whore' as their risk of an unwanted pregnancy has increased substantially. Even in the "legal" states, I suspect that protestors will abuse and shame them, possibly doing things like photographing and "doxing" them to friends, family, etc. And a simple commonly available "whose your daddy" genetic test will determine if a child is the result of her stepping out, resulting in oh probably an expensive divorce, "shaming" to friends and family....

I haven't watched that particular show, but that kind of toxicity has been going on for some time. Even the 90's( which was full of much less woke crap) popularized the bumbling doofus of a husband while the wife was smart but puts up with him for some reason. Some things seem alright in isolation, but when you look at the larger pattern you see that it adds up to a big problem. Unfortunately since such things are so common and obvious now, when I've rewatched some older shows I don't like them as much as I see a lot of the same nefarious things they were either just more subtle or since we weren't bombarded with it everywhere didn't seem problematic.

Unless one is directly involved how does one "observe the things around you" and negate any actual need for studies? I am not challenging your opinion, I would like to look into it further so am looking for data. (Then I may challenge you, lol).

Anecdotal "stories" on their own are useless as there is no way to verify anything. Their are poor therapists out there, I don't think anyone can honestly disagree. What profession is free of incompetent practitioners.

Hmm I don't know if I'd agree about depictions in Reign. It has some bad takes peppered throughout but unfaithful men are very commonplace throughout the show as well. Mary does have an affair storyline in the second season, but a lot of characters tell her what a bad idea it is, and it does have some serious political repercussions especially as the season goes on; I didn't think Francis was necessarily expected to just accept it even though he chose not to divorce her. In the show this is also after he fathered a child with Mary's best friend, too, which Mary comes to accept as well.

Greer does cheat on her fiance with Leith in S1 too but it pretty much blows up in her face. And of course a lot of the storylines have to do with the results of King Henry's constant infidelity which is a very present element in the show throughout S1. As far as popular modern shows go, I found Reign to be a lot less hyper-woke than I was expecting. Rather than expecting the world to just change around you, the message is more that women had some stuff to deal with back then, but if you're wise and put in the work it's still possible to overcome difficult situations. I found it really far from late-3rd-wave grievance feminism and refreshingly un-misandrist.

I think Reign has men cheating on women too. Also they’re nobility so marriages are largely for political and financial gain, not love. That being said the show is basically a soap opera, ofc people will cheat. In real life Bash didn’t exist, Mary and Francis got married at like 15 (and she couldn’t get pregnant, he was a great example of the issues with incest), and obvi all the supernatural stuff is fake. A show where a girl is the kings mistress and is then forced to marry his son (by the king) is maybe not a super show to take moral cues from (altho super entertaining). They do add in some „girl-boss feminism“ moments which is kind of weird because they’re feminist but only for themselves. Kind of like when shoes portray Catherine the Great as a feminist. Like yeah, she didn’t want people to discriminate against HER for being a women, but she wasn’t going to help other women, she was going to kill peasants. One fun fact about her is that historians used to think her husband, Peter, was super inept (which he might’ve been) but then other historians realized they were basically only looking at Catherine‘s journals, who hated her husband enough to stage a coup against him. Maybe not a super unbiased source. Anyways, take CW shows with a grain of salt and realize that rain is trying to „girl boss“ a v misogynistic time period.

I have seen a number of studies on infidelity being quoted here, 20 to 40% depending on the position of the poster. I have reviewed two decades of peer reviewed studies and the aggregate number seems to be in the 20 to 25% mark with a few outliers, no this is still not good but we need to be careful about using statistics gathered through self reporting studies. They are difficult to verify, more studies and better models need to be done to get anything that we can have real confidence in. Often the larger numbers are used to support people who obviously have an anti marriage or anti women bias. The "real" numbers are bad enough without exaggeration to make a subjective point on the other hand we don't want to minimize the problem either. Facts matter, we just may not "absolutely" have them yet.
