Hey All, I have been thinking about something for a while and wondered if any of you felt the same way.

Disregarding the unfairness, bias, and outdatedness associated with the idea that men should always pay for dates, does this point of view offend any of you on a personal level as it does me?

When you think about it, what is essentially being said at some level, by a woman taking this position is: "Yes I like you and would like to get to know you more. However, it is not worth it to me to spend any of my own money to do this. In fact, I feel that I should be compensated by having my (dinner, movie, entertainment, etc) paid for."

Obviously, in the later stages of a relationship it can simply be doing something nice or treating your partner. However, in the early getting to know each other stage, what might be called dating but not necessarily in a relationship, this point of view seems insulting on a personal level.

What do you guys think of this?
