Statutory rape != "a sexual relationship" You can't have a "sexual relationship" with a 14-year old, no matter the gender of the victim, that's rape. Also: kidnapping != "eloping". The fact that this was done by a married woman is incidental, and should not be the core of this article. Stop trying to mask the misdeeds of women with euphemisms and focusing on irrelevant details. Stop using glamour shots of female rapists, and instead use the fucking mugshots. The media is actively complicit in getting female criminals off the hook, and getting a slap on the wrist when they should be locked up for years.

Most if not all of these screenshots are from Indian newspapers. The reason the fixation is on the fact that the relationship was extramarital rather than pedophilic is because India is a country where extramarital relationships are extremely frowned upon (I would know, I’m Indian). It’s doubtful the headlines would be similar if this occurred in a country like the US or Australia. Yes it’s disgusting but cultural context should be applied - not everything can be looked at through a western lens.

actually there are a couple stories concerning this - one from nov 2021 was a 30yo woman "eloping and/or kidnapping" with a 14yo boy and then another from july 2022 of a 40yo woman "eloping and/or kidnapping" a 15yo boy - - - so it might be an on-going frequently "rare" occurrence in India. both cases are horrendous! but can't find any court proceedings on either yet.
(& of course having sexual relations involving criminality from both sexes is worldwide - why that is even a question idk)
