I've got "Happy International Men's Day!" as my discord status. I'm in some pretty strongly liberal servers and I'm a booster so I'm at the top of the member lists.
This is also "Trans Awareness Week" and several statuses are set to that. Hopefully absolutely nothing will happen because most people are reasonable adults. But I won't back down if people stir any shit.

I believe that is part of it yes, but also that it was meant as awareness of the shit they get, kind of why there is a black history month. It's their way of saying "hey! We're here and kinda tired of being shit on" and celebrating who they are when in the past they have been made to feel ashamed. Men have their own fair share of problems and plenty of issues but generally they havnt been nearly as bad and thats why there isn't nearly as much support for men's day I think.

Also, I wouldn't really know if the people around me are racist, sexist, or closeted neo-nazis. I don't really drink, and considering my limited knowledge of what goes through the minds of my acquaintances deep down, I also wouldn't know what those 60% think. I can assume, that given feminism tends to twist statistics to paint a picture of inequality that isn't what's actually being shown by said statistics, that a lot of these people probably believe in the nuance-lacking men = privileged women = oppressed black and white worldview. But that's it, the most I can do is hypothesise. I can't know for sure.

I'd assume it's quite hard to actually kill all men given that the vast majority of people in military combat roles, police officers, firefighters and pretty much any job that requires combat skill or strength are men. Doesn't have to be direct and physical though. You can do what's happening now and slowly push men out of higher education, slowly push them to depression and a suicidal state, and discriminate against them in a plethora of ways. Look up the 20% grading bias against boys and tell me that isn't a clever way to get rid of them in higher education.

Society wouldn't function if all the women went on strike either, it's half the population of course it'll shut down, it's not a unique man thing. Men being part of why society functions isn't a good enough reason to make people care about something like this. You can't force them, you have to convince them. Women work too, but international woman's day isn't about patting women on the back for working in society it's about the fight for women's rights, and women centric issues.
Maybe a rebrand if the day focusing on men's issues...most people probably ask "why do you need a day for men? What challenges do men even face?" And then you have a chance to explain some men's issues. I think people would be more open to a day like this if it was more clearly about men's mental health or something. Right now it has a vibe of "why isn't there a STRAIGHT pride month??". But I think this is just because there isn't enough awareness.

Because straight people never had to fight for the right to be straight. Being straight is not only the norm its shoved down every child's throat from birth. LGBT people often suffer discrimination and having a month to remind them they aren't alone, and they aren't broken, is really nice.
Pride month isn't just being proud you're LGBT, it's being proud you are despite society's attempts to make you feel like it's something to be ashamed of. It used to be illegal to be gay, so being able to have a Pride parade is a big middle finger to the homophobes who thought they could keep gay people down.

Maybe it is because women make them a whole lot more ad revenue being bigger spenders? Or maybe it's just because of the learned tolerance for abuse and suffering in silence. You know what I hate? And this is happening a lot now, I just got an email from work “celebrating” this day. But they don’t just put “happy international mens day” NO, they also remark: “let’s built positive male roles”, “better health for men and boys”, “celebrate the good values men bring to the world” so basically let’s take this day to remind people that men are the worst, so just celebrate if they behave correctly. Have you seen this type of conditions when women celebrate their day?
And not just this. When they make women’s support group or whatever the fuck, they use it to encourage them to study, work, or change to another field or just help in general, benefits and shit. But when they make a mens “health” group or supportive group, is to fight our toxicity. Am I crazy? It’s fucking infuriating, am I the only one? Please tell me so I can go to therapy then

I advise you for the sake of your own sanity, don't care. I will personally tell you that I've been involved in this sub and in this topic for a long time now, and I have honestly given up. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that society and people, in general, will never give a fuck about you, me, or any average man. This doesn't come down to societal programming, instead, it boils down to biology. Men have always been and will always remain disposable to society; mere replaceable cogs and gears in the grand machine that is society, ready to be replaced at a moment's notice.
Women have been important, are important, and will remain important because they are literally the limiting factor in human population, i.e they have limited eggs and are thus necessary for the survival of humanity. As such, pretty much every human has an in-built soft corner for women, as they are absolutely necessary for our survival. Contrast this with men, almost all of whom have infinite sperms and as such are biologically replaceable. Women have intrinsic worth, i.e they are born with value, whereas men have to build their value through sheer hard fucking work. Nearly every woman has more value than nearly all men, save for only the top 0.1% of men who have absolute value (through extreme looks, wealth, or a combination of both).
I know, this is a hard truth to swallow, but one must understand that men as a collective group will never have even 10% of the collective value of women. Nobody will ever care about men as a group, or fight for our rights. THIS IS THE HARD REALITY OF BEING BORN MALE. If you want anybody to give a fuck about you, you gotta grind and work hard till you achieve success.

Where I’m from, we have universities that go way way back, but only let in women properly maybe eighty years ago. Both sexes have different needs and I think, vulnerabilities. I’m female, being of the sex that gets pregnant is significant, most of history we’ve not even had reliable contraception, maternal mortality, lack of interest in female health needs. Male on Male prison rape is horrific, and I recognise there are women who sexually abuse men. Most of the time, sex offenders are male, you may think that’s purely down to women getting away with it or whatever, but that’s the info available. As well look at info on forced/child marriage, or how in some places, abortions happen for reasons purely that the foetus is female. You may bring up workplace deaths, this is what I mean men and women, as two groups face diff problems. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth for people to start talking about male circumcision whenever FGM is bought up, that kind of “MRA” thing that’s just complaining about men’s issue not getting enough attention. please do not speak on topics like this when people are hurting without considering that there may be more going on than you are personally aware of.
for example - im a white male, and i cannot speak much on the pain and suffering on the black lives matter topica aside from helping to support those around me who are suffering. even though i do not see or experince their suffering in my circle as deeply as others, i do not raise concerns that their fight is invalid - this is not my fight - i am not the one who is directly being impacted in this case, but their fights are evidence at keast in itself that something is wrong... i will help them and push for their fight but i will not act to lead them blindly by speakin agianst something i dont quite understand in full.
Please research into these topics further, i was in a similar mindset and was recently placed into a negative and slightly depressed state when more was brought to my knowledge on the problems as a whole, let alone a lot of the things i have been dealing with i though 'was just the way it is' - was wrong. This hurt. I can barley look at my own genitals without being upset, i was circumsized in middle school because doctors and parents thought it would be easier than other simpler methods - and becuase it was covered for free in our health plan.... it was easier to cut and mutiate me than simply spend some more time helping solve my simple problem. - cleaning. I was a kid.
We want to especially use mens day to further the understanding of these topics much like women want their topics and issues heard and addressed, we only ask the same
not to impact or take away from someone elses fight, but to seek representation and assistance where possible for our own.
