So as a scientist, I have to say this... This is a question about a factual statement that can be verified with data. Since this is a textbook, I'm going to assume that in the chapter somewhere there's a citation to a study that found that this is indeed true, that girls do tend to use computers more for educational purposes. I'm all for equality, but we must acknowledge that there are differences between behaviors of gender, even races, and cultures that currently exist. We can debate the causes and virtues of these differences all we want, and whether or not they should exist, but that doesn't mean they don't currently exist. The chapter that this question comes from is even called "Chapter 2: Understanding Diversity in the Classroom." (From "Educational Psychology", by Moreno)

Simply asking about a difference in behavior does not mean the question is sexist. Take, for example, the question

True or False, African-American women are more likely to contract HIV than women of other races.

The answer to that is True. That doesn't mean it's a racist question; it's simply a factual statement. Where racism could possibly come in is if you're talking about why that statement is true. Facts alone have no agenda. Possible interpretations of the facts, however, can.

In the question that OP posted, I'm assuming that there's data to back it up. In fact, a brief search of the literature suggests that there is data to back up the answer: Krieg, J.M. (2005, April 12). Student Gender and Teacher Gender: What is the Impact on High Stakes Test Scores? Current Issues in Education [On-line], 8(9).

Now, if the question were to go on and suggest reasons that this might be true, for example, if it stated that females more responsible or cared about education more, than that would be sexist. Facts themselves can't be sexist.

I would challenge the professor to provide evidence that video games are not educational. Perhaps not education in something you might teach at college, but they do teach different skills and abilities.

I want to hear their definition of "educational reasons". 99% of every women I've ever interacted with that uses a computer mostly uses it for Facebook, and before that, MySpace. I know that sounds just as sexist, but I'm not saying this is a fact, only a personal observation. When a girl wants to show me something on a computer, it's not an interesting wikipedia article, it's a funny post someone left on their wall. Even when I fix computers for females their search histories mostly consist of searches for famous people, porn, and relationship advice (these females range from teen girls in school to middle aged realtors).

Correction: Females use computers much less on average than their counterpart male in the same age group, and the competitive environment males are bred into encourages greater and varying methods of competitive expression via the same telecommunication mediums as education is provided on. What are the regards to total time per gender avg spent in one session/day/week etc?

You could say an avg female spend 3hrs on the net/day, and her male counterpart, 6. She could spend 2 of those 3 hrs educating herself, and he could spend 3. He would have spend 1 more hour a day improving his knowledge, but she spent a larger proportion of her allotted time on the subject, appearing it to be inflated in relation.

You could also ask what their definition of 'games' or 'education' is, for they both could refer to entertainment, and there are in fact educational games. So, this is just a dodgey question imo.

Well its almost a fucking fact that men dominate the internet. Most women, are very alike in ignorance for deeper knowledge of things(hence most). The only ones with personalities are the ones who aren't good looking or went through something in they're lifetime. When they're young they want a douche bag for them to love and disregard kind men and when they're older they want money. Quite trashy.
