I think maybe "sexy" is the wrong term and "attractive" is more accurate.

Personally I find the word "sexy" to be more like, "hey I'm noticing your body / looks" and "attractive" to be more along the lines of "hey I'm noticing YOU, as a person I can admire who is very cool to me"

However, a woman in power suit / skirt is very nice looking as is a guy in a suit.

I'm a woman so I can't speak from personal views here. From what I've seen, men with high career ambitions look for high career ambitions in women. Can't say how exactly they view it, but seem to want it.

Again, it depends on the woman. Personally, I think career success makes men more attractive. No surprise because I value career success and am also career driven. It doesn't make them sexually attractive per se, but it makes them more relatable which in turn can help us get closer. It's like having the same favorite shows, but on a deeper level.

Answering your bonus question from the female perspective:I feel that a guy without progressional ambition is sexually unattractive in the long-term. What constitutes as professional ambition for me can be a wide array of things, but basically as long as you have a the drive to keep working and not just settle, then I'm attracted to that.

I find spunkiness to be sexually appealing, which is a characteristic usually associated with those who have a firm drive. But I also know successful people who are utterly miserable individuals to be around.

I don't really care about career that much. But someone who has accomplishments, such as being in a good band, or getting their PhD, getting papers published, etc. Those all definitely make me more attracted to people, both men and women and everyone else. I've got a huge crush right now on someone who hops trains etc, but is also a neuroscience researcher and plays accordion. They'd still be attractive to me, but those things make me more attracted to them

Sometimes. What people do can be very attractive.

I for example find some female comedians appealing despite their physical appearance being discordant with my view of aesthetics. Their writings and performances induce attraction though.

To whom? People tend to be attracted to people with simular socioeconomic status. So a woman with significant professional accomplishments is generaly going to be more attractive to a man with significant professional accomplishments all other things being equal.

A very little for short term relationships and a fair bit for long term ones.

Obviously holding down a decent job reduces the chances that a new person you meet will steal your wallet and burn down your house while you're resting after sex, right? Given two prospects for a one night stand, and they are pretty much identical except one holds down a decent sort of job and the other has been unemployed and living off her parents the past six months, then I think most men would choose the girl with the job because she's likely to give less trouble.

For long term relationships it is fairly obvious that the closer you are in terms of earning capacity the less likely she is to be faking her attraction just to get a meal ticket. Once again, given two prospects who are identical but one of them earns in the same sort of range as you and the other has been unemployed and on the charity of her parents for six months, the employed girl is probably the one most men would favor.

And then there's some interesting dynamics that happen when you talk about ambitious people who work in fields where having an artisitic, intellectual or political sort of repuation is important. They have a bit of a tendency to choose and cultivate everything to reinforce their reputation... including partners. Artists tend to pair with artists, performers with performers, academics with academics etc. All other things being equal they tend to choose the partner who echos their career aims.

It would be churlish not to admit that for women, being successful can put certain men off. But here's the thing: if you have ambition and value success, why would you want to attract that sort of man?

For example, one of my partners graduated salutatorian. That definitly makes them more attractive to me. I also found out the other one we are both dating used to professionally race road bikes. Not as Parr of their primary career, but still, made me way hotter for them. Do those examples count? Or do you seriously want actual career career

Sex appeal is what it is. You either get sex or you don't depending on whether you hit the ball right or not.

I look more at LTR-appeal, and for that what matters to me is whether she's pro-matriarch or pro-patriarch. If she's at all anti-patriarch, I next her pretty quickly if she doesn't next me first. Sometimes they'll come across anti-patriarch just to hypergamy upward, which is their right.

To put it in Eric Cartman's terms, "Respect my authoritah!"
