I don't see why not.

I do think that it's good to have positive same-gender role models for self-esteem (and to ask those awkward puberty questions later in life,) but it's not as though gay parents raise their children in isolation, and grandparents/ aunts/ uncles/ friends of the family can provide that too provided they have a consistent role in the child's life.

Yes.

The people who bring up an argument about queer couples not being to raise children "properly" are clearly looking at the situation from a biased perspective. There are plenty of kids raised in households by straight couples who are horrible parents and DON'T RAISE THEIR CHILDREN PROPERLY. I really don't see a difference here. Sure, the kids might have two dads or two moms, but our culture today is a lot more opening and understanding with queer folks so it's not so "hush hush".

The only side effect I can see that the kid(s) might face is getting bullied by kids at school who were raised by STRAIGHT PARENTS who perpetuate homophobia to their children. How about that?

Also, it's totally possible for two queer parents to be horrible people as well and do the same neglectful things we see a lot of straight parents do in dysfunctional households.

Studies show that kids from same-sex couples actually live happier healthier lives than the general population. And what exactly do you mean by "raise properly"?

From the article:

Crouch suggested the greater social cohesion among same-sex families comes from an equal distribution of work. He said same-sex couples are likely to share responsibilities more equally than heterosexual ones.

“It is liberating for parents to take on roles that suit their skills rather than defaulting to gender stereotypes, where mum is the primary care giver and dad the primary breadwinner,” he said.

Apparently it's better not to force particular family members into certain roles just because of their gender. Can't say I'm surprised.

I'm not sure why not. If they're fit parents they should be allowed to adopt whatever they like. You may as well ask if white couples should be allowed to adopt nonwhite kids or vice-versa.

It's infinitely preferable to single mom's raising children. We need to stop venerating single moms as saints. It's more of a tragedy that only one person raises a child (unless they're independently wealthy and don't have to work).

Good Parents will be good parents, bad parents will be bad parents. End of story. Gay or straight has nothing to do with it. Plenty of examples of straight fathers molesting daughters.

What the hell could you possibly mean by "raise properly". There is no one way to "raise one's children properly", so couples should be able to adopt children of either gender, no matter what type of couple (as long as they are fit to be parents obviously)

My personal opinions on homos, are less than politically correct, I see way too many butt blasters by Castro every day to pretend that I like their flamboyancy and degenerate behavior on MUNI.

But.... I believe that all people are created equal with equal representation and rights until they do something to fuck that up for themselves. Gay don't bother me, as long as they don't physically assault me or attack my own rights ~~in which case homo is gon go down~~, and I have no right (contrary to SJW belief) to absolute comfort in a public space.

Here's what I think about the situation...... Butch Jane and Bear Brian have the right to adopt as any straight couple or individual (I'm not up on the laws), they are assumed to be non-child diddlers until evidence points to the contrary.

Secondly I believe it is better for a child to have MOST FORMS OF family, than it is to be under the care of the state. Not that the state, is evuuuuul im no republican, but I find it odd that people who complain about the risks for child endangerment and neglect fail to mention the amounts of abuse and neglect that state and foster children go through.

I'd rather take my chances with the gay couple then run them through a potentially abusive foster mill.

Yes, they should be allowed to do so. I would find it much more preferable than a child being raised by a single parent or in a dysfunctional heterosexual home.

Okay, I think I see what you mean. I definitely think they can. If the belief is raising a child to be more like a man if they are a girl or raising a boy to be more like a woman, I think it's incredibly unlikely to happen. The child may be more masculine or feminine than it would be if it were raised by a heterosexual couple, but there's no problem with that.

That's my long-winded, rambling way of saying yes.

All studies on gay parents are based on convenience samples or self-selected samples, and therefore are seriously lacking in credibility. The only exception is Mark Regnerus' study, which has its own issues, since many of the gay parents involved were formerly in heterosexual marriages.

Obviously normal(yes normal) parents would be the best.

I'm not sure if LGBT beats the orphanage, both aren't ideal.

To be fair I'm in favor of improving orphanages since you don't get that many adoptions anyway LGBT or no LGBT.

I don't think LGBT couples have any right to raise children but I'll admit that being raised by a gay couple is probably better than life in foster care or an orphanage.
