I think late-teens to early 20s is the hardest time to date as a man. Your stock is low. You're stereotyped as immature, boring, sexually inexperienced, unworldly, and broke. And, as you said, your competition will always include guys a few years older than you because they like women your age just fine.

Survive the drought. You dont need to give up on the opposite sex altogether (in fact, you should keep trying, for the experience). But focus mainly on yourself and remember that you can be one of those slightly older guys one day.

Dating was brutal for me during 16-23.

When I bought a house at 26 It was a night and day difference in how much women had interest in me. Multiple dates a week and at one point I had 3 girls on rotation.

Now at 30 women where really just a waste of time to chase around. I should of been more focused in other areas. Im glad for the experience though.

Age matters a lot for me honestly I wouldn't really date a guy who's more than 3 years older than me just because it's an ick and the thought alone makes me feel disgusted (then again I'm 20). Not just the fact that older guys usually look uglier but also the difference in maturity. Women dating much older men is mostly the exception rather than the norm. Most women date a couple years around their age. Though I do think the age gaps tend to widen as both men and women get older because priorities start to shift around the 30s.

I don't think you should be focusing on women because the romance avenue seems like a dead end for you tbh. you're well aware that you are unattractive and time is not on your side either. I would focus on getting your life together for your own sake (iow financial stability)

Is it age or stage in life?

At 24M what are you doing with your life? Do you have a good career, have your own place, have a car, cook and clean for yourself, pay your own bills, and otherwise operate as a self-sufficient adult?

Are you living with your parents, still partially financially dependent on them, still living under their rules, with your mom cooking and cleaning for you? Do you spend many hours a week on video games, porn, and Reddit?

Men who have their shit together do better. Young guys can have their shit together. I did at 24. These days a lot of guys don't, which may push women towards older guys.

Yes. You’re 24 and in a wacky point in your life because you’ve most likely transitioned from college student to the adult work force. Meaning you’re no longer in the demographic of meeting many people under 22 but you are now surrounded by people 22+. That gives you limited options as people tend to partner up with others in the 2+- age range but you most likely feel young and inexperienced to the older women, 24+, when you’ve barely fledged as a full adult. You can try meeting women 22-24 years of age but they’ll most likely also be busy transitioning into adulthood at this point in their life and not really be looking for a partner.

Young women will seriously date young men whom they are both attracted to and whom they think will eventually have their life in order, even if that man is still a student or working some entry level position. The main advantage that younger men have is that they don't have as many signs of age compared to older men, so they should probably try to maximize the physical attraction and confidence areas of being attractive and not worry so much about the financial aspects. This is one of the reasons why the more attractive young men just try finding casual sex while they are still young - because at a young age they still have the features that make them most attractive for casual sex compared to slightly older men, who are probably the men that the women who are serious about a relationship and settling down are more likely to pursue.

All depends how you skew...before I met my wife the last girlfriend I had was 14 year younger. But I look young especially for my 44 years. My wife is also 7 years younger.

My first girlfriend was 10 years older. She was 29 when we first met. But again she looked like 22. Age doesn't matter.

I'm 32 and am currently interested in a 41 year old man. I have always preferred men closer to my age and never younger. A lot of young guys are still immature or "don't know what they want". Men in their late 30s usually know if they want to settle down and start a family. And if a 38 year old STILL doesn't know what they want, odds are they might never know.
