There is an interesting new series on Netflix called "explained", and there's an episode called Monogamy. The shows are really short, like 15-20 minutes. This episode covers some evo psych, social rationales in cultures where monogamy is the norm, hunter gatherer tribes, comparison to primates, sexual jealousy, polyamory etc.

One thing they mention I found interesting was the idea that original evo psych ideas were influenced socially and conformed to victorian ideas about sex/monogamy. The show is basically discussing how monogamy may not be as natural for humans as we are taught to believe. It is hard for me personally to relate to wanting something non-monogamous. I am sure, however, that there are plenty here who would agree with the show's central theme and/or feel a much stronger urge for variety in sexual partners. Another interesting thing is that they did not appear to take a hard line stance re: men are the ones who want to be non-monogamous and women are not.

Anyway this post was not really intended to be some big debate post I mostly just wanted to inform people of this in case they wanted to watch it. But feel free to discuss if you have some ideas on the topic!
