Yeah SSRIs will do that. Fucking horrible drugs. I told all the docs I was seeing, never give me those things again, they made my depression 10x worse.

Is it actually helping your depression? If not you should ask for alternatives otherwise you just get put on the SSRI roundabout forever.

Mirtazapine, although it also didn't work for me, works for many others so it might be worth trying. The NHS has no trouble giving it out.

For me what actually finally dug me out of my hole was my ADHD meds, dexamphetamine. Docs don't mind scripting this however it can only be scripted by ADHD specialists and the waiting list for those on the NHS is super long.

If your problem is anxiety then pregabalin or diazepam (or any other benzos, I'm scripted clonazepam) would help you more but the NHS is reluctant to prescribe those since they're controlled drugs.

If you have a few hundred quid to invest in your health, and your health is well worth investing in, there's a site called Psychiatry-UK that will let you video chat with an actual psychiatrist instead of wasting time being dicked about by your GP.

They are private psychiatrists so they don't have to play by NHS rules or bureaucracy and can do what's best for you. Two of my mates got dexamphetamine scripts virtually instantly using that service which would have taken years on the NHS.

It's basically the same as seeing a psychiatrist privately but it's far more affordable. IRL an evaluation would cost about a grand. That site will charge about £200-300. Then the rest of your communication is by email.

If you want more info PM me any time and I can walk you through the process and tell you which docs to speak to on there. If you don't mind telling me what your exact issues are, I can recommend which docs are most likely to help you and what treatments worked for me and what to avoid (although of course YMMV, but the docs are solid).

I highly recommend using that site to speak to a private psychiatrist because seeing a psychiatrist on the NHS is almost impossible these days and GP's have no clue what they are doing most of the time.

Like I said PM me if you wanna speak privately, I've been through all these issues and gone through the system myself many times and I know how to get proper care rather than having a clueless GP throw new SSRIs at you each visit.

Just to add to this, if ADHD meds do help, you might want to also give Ashwagandha (ksm-66 formulation so it's standardized) a shot. I was on adderall and wellbutrin for years for depression/ADHD. Throughout the years I was also put on anti-anxiety drugs and some other stuff, since the drugs that fixed my original problems were causing problems of their own.

Eventually it got pretty bad and I had to just get off of everything. Which was extremely rough. Now I still have to use adderall occasionally in order to keep my job, but I've found for general daily use, ashwagandha has dug me out of my depression (that I've had my whole adult life, over a decade), and even fixes my motivation and attention issues around 50%. Which is much better than adderall which fixed those issues but sucked my soul out and left me a joyless husk after a couple years of use.

I strongly recommend giving it a shot to anyone who is looking for an anti-depressant. It's safe (as long as you don't have pre-existing thyroid issues or take way too much all the time), it's cheap, it's legal, and for me, it worked after around a week of taking one pill (300mg) every morning with my coffee. It's a quick low-impact thing you can try, and I've gotten way better results from this than any of the "legit" prescriptions I've gotten, and I think I started those attempts in 2009.

Takes away the soul crushing existential dread and depression that I usually constantly feel. I can go through my normal day and be relatively neutral, or even happy sometimes. It seems to make coffee stronger as well, and it’s a slight stimulant in and of itself. So needless to say, it also helps with ADHD, but only maybe 50% as well as adderall (but with 0% of the crash, which is more than a fair trade IMO).

In general ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It’s supposed to balance out things like cortisol and some other systems. I feel like it works, I think the cortisol control is probably why my existential dread has been cut down 90%.

Also, like I said, I specifically use KSM-66. It’s a standardized formulation, so if a product is labeled as KSM-66, it should be consistent. There’s also “sensoril”, another specific formulation, but apparently that one is more of a sedative, like you would take that at night instead of in the morning like I do with KSM.

There is a skills-based issue, and the best way to resolve this problem is to let the uneducated racist rednecks and ghetto trash purge themselves out one way or another.

Two problems with this. One, having skills does not ensure a job if there are no jobs, as I already said, and Two, that's likely not going to happen. There will probably always be "uneducated racist recknecks" and/or "ghetto trash" because, here in America, people have the freedom to be uneducated racist recknecks and ghetto trash. The only way they're going to be "purged" is through restricting some of that freedom.

Once the welfare complex that subsidizes their existence is removed, they will have no choice but to either use what skills they do have to eke out a self-sufficient existence or to simply perish.

I think some people will have the "give us more money" attitude, but I'm willing to put up with them if it also means helping honest hard working people trying to make it. As for your second question, those people have good attitudes but if you're really truly just underprivileged (and I don't mean privilege in the SJW sense) it can be an almost impossible undertaking where you not only have to play your cards right, you just have to get lucky. If you're saving up for first and last months rent on a new place to get your family out of the ghetto, but every time you almost have enough money gangbangers fuck your car up which you have to get fixed so you can get to work, you're pretty much fucked. Some people that's literally their situation.

If you give a bunch of people cash and half of them fuck up and throw away their chance, but half of them use the opportunity to make a life for themselves, it was worth it in my opinion.

I understand. I'd like for the ones actually trying to make it, too, but how much of the population of impoverished do you feel the "honest hardworking people" represent? If they're a minority within the minority, do you still feel the same way?

So do you agree that the culture prevalent in impoverished communities contributes to their success or failure, whether directly or indirectly? I'm going to be frank: I think/feel that the "thugs and drugs" culture contributes to a large portion of the failures of impoverished communities, and I don't feel like free money will instantaneously cause people to start thinking differently. It's unfortunate that people have to grow up and live in those climates, but I think only the individuals themselves can get themselves out of it, and they have to really want to.

If you give a bunch of people cash and half of them fuck up and throw away their chance, but half of them use the opportunity to make a life for themselves, it was worth it in my opinion.

But maybe you could help out a few families really actually struggling. Maybe help some poor kid get a college education and get the fuck out. Free money won't help all your issues, but if it can help a few, who hopefully can then give back to the community, that's worth it to me. Isn't that what scholarships and financial aid are for, though? Like I said, people have to want it for themselves, and at the same time, be capable of getting it. I'm all for funding schools because I think proper education and resources will pave the road for people looking to make the journey, but simply giving free cash to the poor won't help them as much or in the same way.

Free money won't help all your issues, but if it can help a few, who hopefully can then give back to the community, that's worth it to me. Maybe I'm just a naive idealist, but that's how I choose to view the world.
