The big dating apps already have these algorithms. It’s exactly why they don’t work.

They only show the most attractive guys to like 90% of the girls. If you think it’s because your profile is bad, it’s not. Most girls just never get to see your profile. It’s burried somewhere underneath the most attractive guys, and after girls get 20 matches with those guys, whats the point of swiping more? That’s why most guys never get matches. You’re basically shadow banned. Buying boosts doesn’t help, because 10x 0 views still = 0 views.

The apps would be way better if it was just random, with no elo score. But as we all know, dating apps are made for men but designed for women. Dating apps pedistalize women.

It does do that already, it's just not really a match.

Showing a 4/10 woman to a 4/10 guy doesn't work since the 4/10 woman will still get approached by horny 7/10's if they're willing to be a sidepiece. Meanwhile there's not an opposing, equivalent trade in 7/10 girls going with 4/10 guys as sneaky link.

Without even getting into the population mismatch itself.

Your last sentence is why it will never happen.

You don’t make money matching people up, then they stop using the app.

You could just have a check box, “up for casual sex” and filter by that, which some do have, but since everyone answers ambivalently then that won’t help.

Everyone lies on apps.

Then people would match, stop using the app and stop paying. Why would a company that makes money off dudes paying them want that to happen? That’s bad business.

Iirc they already do something like that by giving people an ELO and "matching" them based on that.

We can all see how well that's working out.

Of course it would work,

The problem you’ve got is there are more men that want casual sex and their are more women that want relationships. Before you even start to sort people you don’t have enough of the opposite gender.

Then you’ve got the issue of people lying, boasting themselves up, not meeting the expectations set.

The biggest issue using OLD is everybody just wants quick fixes and people use that to make money

You can't really match people up by any kind of level when the male:female ratio is several times greater than 2:1 never mind anywhere near 1:1.

OKCupid used to have (still does?) personality questions. I found that it did a pretty good job matching me with nerdy women who were about at my admittedly average attractiveness level. I never met anyone off of there, though, but I think that personality matching is a better tool for helping people find actual relationships and that “looks swiping” is probably better for hook ups. Since most women only want to hook up with high value men, I don’t think that attractiveness matching would actually work on this type of app. Average to below average men usually need to get into relationships in order to have sex.

Limiting people to fewer higher quality choices works but more choices will always be available on other apps.

People will always choose the latter. Instinctually it makes more sense even though it's wrong.

I know when I was online dating 10 years ago that stuff already existed because i would get emails about being able to access higher quality people since my profile was so popular. I actually found personality matching to be much more helpful in finding a really good relationship, but not everyone wants actual relationships, a lot of people just want a warm something to insert their parts into.

It sounds like a good idea until you take into account the fact that women have obscenely unrealistic expectations of what they want in men to the point where most feel wholly unsatisfied with someone on par with their looks - they feel they deserve only the upper echelon of men. Average women don't date average men and vice versa. Women will continue to strive for the cream of the crop while men will take what they can get. This dreary fact voids this entire idea.

I want a looksmatching service so I know what league I'm in when it comes to looking for a long-term relationship. The ones dating apps use are skewed in favour of women (I'm female BTW). Hot men will go after any woman just to get laid, that's not conducive to a relationship
