This originally was an idea for a joke post, but I see this happening so often and it’s grown to be such a pet-peeve, I figured while this post is essentially lols for me, it could actually add some real value to the sub as it has become plainly obvious to me (and I’m sure many others) that mainstream BluePill types have misused the word entitlement, possibly purposely, to the point of it being formed into a social weapon. Therefore, I’ve made a short post demonstrating what the word actually means, how to use it correctly, and some actual PPD examples of it being used incorrectly.

Entitlement: What BluePills think it means: A person, typically male, expressing anger, bitterness, or general unhappiness with either the sexual market place or women’s natural sexual choices. In essence, entering any given situation with a result, or expectation qualifies (to a BluePill) as entitlement or an entitled attitude.

Many non RedPill women also tend to use it to men “a guy behaving in a way that is contradictory to my sexual desires [usually for commitment]”

BluePills then tend to initiate shaming rituals of whatever variety.

Entitlement: What the word actually means: The correct usage of the word “entitlement” in context of engendered discussion should be more correctly used to describe a situation in which someone has expended no effort, but expresses a displeased disposition in regards to his or her results, lack there-of, or other people’s behavior towards it.

Dictionary Definition: Applicable dictionary definition of entitlement is simply...

  • The state of being entitled

Applicable dictionary definition of entitled

verb, entitled, entitling.

  • To give (a person or thing) a title, right, or claim to something; furnish with grounds for laying claim:

“His executive position entitled him to certain courtesies rarely accorded others.”

In essence, the belief that one has a right or claim on privileges inherently belonging to a position, status, or state of being.

British Oxford Definition:

verb (transitive)

  • to give (a person) the right to do or have something; qualify; allow Again, the idea that one believes they have an inherent right to do or have something. Ie. in the face or in spite of a lack of effort.

Now, let’s look at some examples just from today of BluePills using “entitlement” incorrectly and examine why…

/u/RackMeRackYou http://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/2uaauc/cmv_slutstud_double_standard_is_valid_because_it/co79ml8

In this example, /u/RackMeRackYou insinuates that men are, in general entitled to sex. This is obviously not the case as that worldview flies in direct contention with the the fact that men’s self improvement movements such as PUA and TRP exist. If men generally felt they were owed sex, these communities couldn’t exist as they literally hinge on the expenditure of effort. If anything, they demonstrate that men are far more appreciative and willing to work towards achieving their personal goals than women, and also that men are aware acquiring sex from the opposite sex is difficult, and time consuming enough to build an internet underground and business industry around expediting and (metaphorically) industrializing the process.

/u/OfSpock http://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/2ucbcl/another_example_and_study_on_8020_rule_and/co7naod

In this example, /u/OfSpock uses “entitlement” to describe men’s lack of desire and personal choice to forgo committed relationships before engaging in promiscuous activity as an entitled disposition. Obviously this is not the case as there is no evidence of a lack of effort being expended; someone’s personal choice is nothing more than that. If I buy a snack now before I eat a larger dinner later, I am not “entitled” to my snack. I simply made a choice to satisfy a desire that was more pressing than my desire (or lack there-of) to remain hungry. Ironically, it would actually be her in this scenario who is demonstrating entitlement by insinuating that she views men as entitled who don’t commit to her sexually. She is coming from a mindset in which she is owed commitment by virtue of being female.

There you have it. I hope this short classroom post will encourage correct use of everyone's favourite shaming word.
