Transhumanism ultimately translates into creating entities with the memories, emotions, wirings, etc. that we like, who are superior to us. It is about creating better versions of ourselves. If someone wants to retain the gender, that'll be it.

Genetic engineering is definitely going to be huge and rife with issues, and no one could possibly predict what's going to happen. But just intuitively, what do you think most parents are going to choose for their kids? They'll want: Smart, no issues, no disease, long life...and definitely not gay or suffering from gender dysphoria. It's a harder life, why would most parents actively choose that for their kid? And biologically, you have to choose a male or female fetus, so parents will pick one or the other, free from 'problems'.

All my life, I knew I was a gerbil born in a human’s body. But don’t you think transhumanism (even in a muted intro version) might INCREASE gender differences? Like sure some people might wanna just slip into the human woodwork, but many others may want to dramatically increase their gender characteristics.

IE - One of my exes got on androgen blockers specifically for her skin. (Always had great skin but betch is a perfectionist). Just to be clear she’s a ciswoman but when she got on them it was “now i am PURE femme.” Little things like that but over and over. Men would roid out on testosterone, etc.

I think more likely gender, more the effects of gender, will become irrelevant without transhumanism. It will be a natural byproduct as opposed to a concerted effort. Once we get to the point there being artificial wombs, artificial egg cells, realistic AI sexbots indistinguishable from real humans, everyone being given a living UBI because we are to the point of all work or most work being automated, yeah gender is going to be pretty irrelevent. I see all of those things happening far before we get to the point of uploading our consciousnesses into a cloud and truly transcending our human forms or genetic engineering that turns us into sexless beings.

I really doubt that transhumanism (which I just had to google because I've never heard of it before) is going to be implemented into our society within the next 50 years. Current living generations still grew up mainly with rather traditional gender roles, they're not just gonna change their view of society. Maybe our kids or grandkids, but within 50 years? Certainly not.

So even if kids 50 years from now will grow up with a completely separated mind and body (if I understood it right that's what this is about), I bluntly said probably wouldn't care. It's their own business and that's also how I feel about transgender people. You do you, just as long as you don't push your beliefs onto me.

Yes, transhumanism will probably make gender irrelevant. However probably not on how you think, nor when you think.

First, the mistakes, Tradcons and trp are not groups in good terms, or even close to it. They only agree in certain parts about women behavior because of the knowledge some traditionalism ancients had. However most of it these groups hate each other as their bases are completely different.

Second, as my professor once said.

"Efficiency precedes progress"

Any progress we ever had was because of efficiency, that is why we use computers and the like. The same can even be said about homosexuals as the price to suppress them greatly outpaced our perception of the gains of suppressing them. Even Marx put it as a reason for the socialist revolution he always predicted.

There is no big or strong causal connection to transform the human society in a gender-less one (or a marxist one for that matter). Nor there probably will be a reason in the near future. To suppress gender you would need to improve a lot the benefits of it and decrease absurdly the costs of such. Probably the human race will only abandon the concept when we completely abandon the concept of biological flesh. And it will take some thousand years for it even get to half of the population. Even at the accelerated pace of progress we have today.

Until them we will probably need information in gender for the next thousand or so years, as it will be part of the majority of the population for a long while. And lets not forget that not all will be cybernetic, or mutated humans. Normal humans probably will live on for some thousand years. Thus, for the men reading now PPD and TRP this knowledge will probably be useful for the next 5 generations at least. Seem fair enough to me.

They might, however they could also lead to a hyper-gendered society. Many works of speculative fiction about genetic engineering see humanity eventually split into distinct specialized branches. To take a facile example, fish men who roam the seas, star men who colonize planets and are part machine, etc. The same might occur among the genders.

I mean, it's actually very LIKELY that society becomes increasingly gendered, if you think about it. Parents will want their kids to succeed, and part of that is attracting the highest quality possible spouse, which means being attractive, which means being gender dimorphic. Tall, robust, muscular men with deep voices and hunter eyes. Curvaceous, hourglass shaped, neotenous women with big wet dewy eyes and lush lips. There will be some parents around who actively want less gendered kids, but they will be comparatively rare next to the parents who want conventionally attractive kids geared for maximal success on the SMP.

I think the biggest obstacle to that is the same it's been all along: women are quite happy with gender roles and giving people more freedom will just lead to them expecting more of what they want.

If we were going to go in this direction, we'd already have made a serious push long ago.

Also, transhumanism is (while interesting) the mother of all speculative thought experiments. There's no way to know what kind of paradigm shifts we'll be seeing let alone how they'll change society. What we do know though is that generally, people use technology to enhance their lives, not to change their preferences. Example: Social media revealed and augmented tribalism. The primitive instincts weren't removed, they were enhanced.

Similarly, I think it's more likely that "transhumanism" will lead to a more pronounced expression of traditional gender on the whole.

Transhumanism will create a species that will eradicate and replace the human race. So what does this have to do with us? You really think these things will just be advanced forms of trannys comfortable with their new skin and hot swappable genitalia? They will think differently than us. They will think differently than us. Their world will be different than ours.

Most people don’t really care. Other than people who are invested in maintaining gender norms — mainly men and women who can’t compete in an equal society. This is true of transracialism as well (though race is actually bullshit social construct; I wouldn't say gender is.)

Slap whatever label you want on me. As long as I am afforded the same rights as everyone else and the freedom to chose the life that fits me, I really don’t care what you want to call me. And I care even less about anyone’s existential crisis over disappearing gender norms or their own inability to confirm to them.
