Are we taking "shaming tactics" to mean insulting someone to shut down debate?

Definitely the variations on "you're just taking your position because of emotion" are high on the list of common ones from the TRP side. Framing someone else's belief or position as being a result of their own feelings is an easy way to shut them down and not have to consider anything they actually say. I think you get bonus points if you add a bunch of letters to "feelings" and say "feeeeliiiings".

"Irrational woman there, disregard" is probably the equivalent of the "privileged male there, disregard" that you we see from the feminist side.

Ad hominem attacks shouldn't be taken seriously, regardless of the source. Both feminists and men's rights activists are guilty of slinging ad hominem attacks, and both sides are capable of making a good argument.
