I am a chemist/researcher & my SO is a helicopter pilot for emergency medicine.

He is a good man and we share similar values and goals in life. He spoils me with everything he has and of everything he gives me, I value his affection most. He's very cute with me most of the time but there are times when his personality can be very aggressive/competitive.

Example 1) His job- very physically and mentally demanding Example 2) Motorcycle- he has topped speeds of 180mph on it and is a very proficient driver. He doesn't have a juvenile 'need for speed,' he says he simply loves the feeling of riding and knows how to do it safely (safely @ 180mph? oxymoron I know ) Example 3) He is quite older than me, so he likes to 'show me' things Example 4) He, in general, has a very powerful and (sometimes) domineering voice Example 5) He insists on doing the cooking & the grocery shopping even though I'm a great cook. He says he insists on it bc he loves cooking for me. But we never 'cook together.' It's usually just him at the stove explaining his recipe while I stand out of the way. Example 6) The last time we had an argument I didn't speak to him for weeks. It frightened me to see him that angry with me.

....but despite all this, he tells me that I am 'the sweetest thing in his life.'

Have you ladies ever dealt with a man who was a little too alpha in some regards? How did you deal with it ?
