Have you ever noticed you'll read somebody's post going "It's okay to be overweight, as long as that weight is muscle, and you're like 10% body fat and can deadlift 600lbs and bench 400." And you think to yourself, "shit, I'm nowhere near there."

Well, turns out a lot of people are completely full of shit and have no idea what they're talking about. I also don't, since I'm not a qualified trainer.

But what I am qualified to do is point you in the right direction.

This link shows a rough average of where you should be lifting based on your skill and weight. It's a good primer to see where you stand from a lifting level.

Also note this site has a section with hundreds of exercises and animations showing proper technique. It's basically the best free training site I've come across.
