I work for an engineering company. We are 75% male and 25% female overall. In 2 years we move to a new building and I'm part of the committee to help decide what goes in the gym.

Floor plans were given; the changing rooms we split in size 65/35. One womyn moaned in the committee metting, she was told by Female Facilities manager chairing the meetings that the split wasn't up for debate, just what would go in to the gym in terms of equipment etc. Next meeting, new floor plan, it's now 50/50, I asked why, was told by Female Facilities manager chairing the meetings, this is not up for debate. Obviously I pointed out the previous point. "Not up for discussion, If you have a problem, take it up with HR"

Go to HR Director, also female; "this is nothing to do with me. However, I do support the 50/50 split as we will be trying to recruit more womyn in the future".

Considered sending her the link to; Part 1 – ”The Gender Equality Paradox". Decided it's not worth it. Now, if I'm still working for the same company in 2 years, when I use those changing rooms, there will times when there's not enough space. In the female changing room there will be the opposite.
