I'm nor sure if this is a rant, a field report, or what. But it's something. At the very least, read it, and learn from my mistake. It's not that long.

I live and work in a small community, populated by a LARGE number of engineers and scientists. But for some reason it's SUPER religious out here (that's only important because I'm of the opinion that science killed god - but that's not the point of the story).

A manager of mine realized that I'm atheist, and invited me to a secret facebook group. Tonight was the first time I met with them.

Now, a lot of the traffic that goes on in this group is logic-based, about contradictions in the bible (hey, I'm not knocking religion, there's a reason they call it 'faith'....you CAN'T prove it). That being said, I was under the belief that logic and reason would dominate tonight's meeting.

I'm not sure how, but 'sexual assault' became a topic. And I couldn't keep my fucking mouth shut, and I violated Law 38: Think As You Like, But Behave Like The Others.

I said that if I left my car running, parked on the street, door wide open, and I walked away, I'm at least partially at fault for it being stolen (credit: Tom Leykis). Yes, within the law, I have that right, but I'm a fucking schmuck if I do it. Everyone agreed.

Then I said that if I get sloppy drunk and then walk down the wrong dark alley and get mugged and/or beat up and/or killed, I'm at least partially at fault for putting myself in that situation. Everyone agreed.

Then I said that a woman has the right to walk down that same dark alley, dressed like a whore, stumbling drunk, SHE HAS THAT RIGHT.....but she's at least partially at fault if some creep jumps out of the bushes and rapes the shit out of her. No one agreed. Least of all, two women. One of whom was married to a guy that works at the same site I do....and another, the LTR of the manager who invited me to the group in the first place.

Now, I sit here, wondering if I'll walk in to work tomorrow to some sort of sexual-something complaint. After years of work getting to where I am, possibly ruined because I used....mmm...what's it called? Oh yea, logic and reason, and the presumption that all people are responsible for their own actions.

Call me an idiot if you like (I'm a man. I will admit when I make a bad decision). Sympathize if you like. Upvote, downvote, whatever. Just remember you read this story if you find yourself in a similar situation and KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT. Logic and reason have no power over the feminine imperative.

EDIT:

Apparently some people missed my point/were arguing just for the sake of arguing.

Let's go ahead and pretend that I didn't type about a masked rapist jumping out of the bushes. Let's replace that with "She had too much to drink, and went home with a guy she shouldn't have." Happy now?
