Thanks for this. Over the past two weeks I have only been thinking negatively about myself, why I'm not getting laid as much as I want to, why I'm not reading as much as I should, why I'm not hitting my lifts how I want to.
But fuck that, 2 months ago I was squatting 20 kgs and now I'm on 65. 2 months ago I hadn't had sex in a year and 3 months and since then I've laid two girls. And even if I'm not reading as much as I want to I'm analysing my interactions through a Red Pill lense and seeing things for what they are.
Thanks for cheering up my Sunday dude.

Hah, 3 months ago I couldn't even lift due to injury. Yesterday I maxed out at 270 on squat at 140 pounds.

There is nothing wrong with beginners starting with just the bar to get the form down, especially if they are particularly small and weak.

adding 2.5kg a session(2x weekly) as normal with linear progression programs and the math pretty much matches up
[–]1dongpal0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i was 180cm 56kg skinny af and started with 60kg squat and deadlifts.
[–]Swallowed_the_pill8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Both starting strength and stronglifts 5x5 tells you to start with just the bar if you're a first timer. It's about learning the movement, setting good habits and actually doing all exercises and progression. You quickly add weight on both programs.
He made a change to his life and is making improvements. Why mock him for it?
[–]Blazedazex551 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hopefully he was at least adding that to the bar? The bar weighs around 20kgs.
[–]spurdosparade0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's probably when he started. I also started with a free bar.

Nice post,
yep to most of these, the not missing shitty food thing has been big for me.. I used to binge on shitty food when stressed, now i deal with the shit/stress and not binge on the food, has done wonders for my body, which in turn boosted self esteem, which ended up with being treated differently by women (a side effect for sure).
i'm about a year in post TRP, still slide back to beta/blue sometimes, but remember to reinforce, learn why i slid back , fix it and move forward

Practice, practice, practice. If you want a good philosophical treatise on becoming a happy person through habit and reflection, go no further than Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. I'm happy to discuss it if you have any questions, I found it at a dark point in my life and I have never found a better source of moral truth.

doing good brother; revising valuable knowledge found here is tremendously important... as Rohn put it; ''Be a collector of good ideas, but don't trust your memory.''

The part about women being unable to make you happy is a major inflection point on the road to unplugging.
Projecting you insecurities and unhappiness onto a woman will rightly disgust her.
She wants a winner. She can't make you a winner. She doesn't even want to know how you became a winner, that ruins all the fun for her.

... so?
Do you want a prize because you stopped being a piece of shit - for now?

From your name, I assume this matter is personal to you. Is there middle ground between not patting yourself on the back too much and having some measure of pride in battling addiction?

Is addiction a disease? Medicine says it is.
So basically 2 weeks ago I had a severe diarrhoea. Now I'm healthy.
Should I rather pat myself on the back or have some amount of pride for battling it? If yes, then how much?
[–]SirGaetanDugas 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think you are taking the concept of validation a touch too far.
The title of the post is look at you, the guy did, and took a small victory lap.
The horror!
[–]Crimson_Cleric0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't understand much about addiction. My only "addiction" is sugar. I think there is a genetic component to addiction but I wouldn't take it so far as to call it a disease. Modern medicine would disagree with me, but the soft (social) sciences have infiltrated medicine nowadays. Or so it seems to me.
Weathering diarrhea doesn't require willpower. Defeating addiction does, I would think.
[–]ayyyyyylmaoooooooo 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah! Can I have a prize? Please don't give me drugs no more.
[–]ayyyyyylmaoooooooo 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Also not for now! My job give us daily doping test so all good! I am happy!

Suddenly you discover that for people like us, the best prize is the ability to live a normal, healthy life like everyone else not addicted.
Bravo. That's the deal.

This is true -- always critical to yourself is not going to do the trick. Look at you what you have achieved within a couple years/months while others were playing XBOX or worshiping their girlfriends with whom they have sex once every blue moon.

What you have described here is simply the process of accepting the reality of understanding that there are mechanics around you and that these are how people and society may be manipulated. The game, as always, is the battle for control over the rules. Running game is to apply social hacking techniques to get what you want.
Once you achieve this power, the important question is to ask you what you REALLY want. What would actually make you happy. Is it to live among a society of free people in fair competition, or do you adopt lies and bake them into your frame to justify domination?
Here's the realist's perspective: Ever since you could give repeating rifles to sheep, the game changed. Just ask the Nazis about living in a fantasy world.

wow everything applies to me, thanks for this
The problem with growing up with a perfectionist father is that never is good enough and I constantly bash myself whenever I have the chance
This will give me some breathing for the next couple of days ;)

This post is exactly what I needed to wake up to. Still not getting laid but I'm realizing the only reason I ever felt a pressure to and got torn up about it wasn't because I felt sad about it but what I thought others would say if they found out about my dry spell. I'm realizing my change of mind and body and I love it. I was a stoner and daily smoker but recently quit cold turkey. Pretty sure that was what was holding me back because I'm noticing changes a lot quicker now.

Great one!
It took me at least more than year to go back to gym, start making healthy smoothies for myself again and not eating that shitty quick fix product again. It seems I have just started and I don't seek any validation anymore. We men have to keep it in ourself and let our actions speak.

I like this. I have experienced...all of these, and while it's nice to know I am definitely farther along than I was. I still have a long way to go, but now I revel in that struggle and look forward to it every day. Thanks for the reminder bro, good luck on your journeys and growth.

I have two brother who game PS4. And they were telling me about how much fun they had on Friday playing Battlefield 1. I was like, I should get a PS4 and play with them. Then I remembered I quit gaming in 2013. It was my first step to removing the time sucking elements in my life. 2 months ago I was less bulked than I am now. A man's path to excellence is treacherous and long. Imagine what you can accomplish in two years. Keep going, always.
[–]anabolic920 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes and no.
I read TRP, I can relate and understand on some of the topics discussed in the first part of the sidebar.
I do a lot of the things recommended in here, gym, work, study, leaving me with 6h of sleep max every day, am I happier? Not really.
Not because TRP isn't usefull but because I still have a lot of work to do regarding the change of how I see the world/expectations from other people of me, trying to be liked by everyone, etc...:
Order the rational male and no more mr nice guy to start reading them asap.

Would you challenge the sovereign, We the People, on the battlefield, if it came to it? I suppose that's what it comes down to. The old Platonic question. What makes the strongest phalanx?
This is the question the Chinese ask. Who are the winners of the past? Does that give us any hints for how to compete in the future?
[–]TheYoungPatriarch 4 points4 points4 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I like you. You are wacky and definitely on one, but you also kind of make sense. Like you google translated something you wrote in a different language.
[–]RestoreTheUnion2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I am indeed definitely on one. When I was a child, I was broadcast Greatest Generation memes and Kurt Vonnegut and shown all of the benefits of that particular type of manhood. I have always been curious and have read a whole lot of Chinese history, Greek philosophy, and so on. There is a traditional intellectual war between sophistry and fact, one could say. I'm taking up the old cause. Comedy and unorthodox language, such as from Zhuang Zi, are the traditional tools for pointing out inconsistency.
The reason for the archaic and impressionist language is to help to illustrate what it means to run 'old' game, and how interesting it can be. Memes can put women at ease. They also can make 'sheep' burn down fascist cities. Is that not fascinating? Does it tell us anything about humanity?
I think redpills are simply on the path to realism, and as such are ready to see what Mark Twain and the Chinese figured out: Seek truth from facts. Wisdom lies in our past.

Why does most workout advice assume I want to lose weight in the gym? I was very thin like 50kg and 175cm but now I'm more towards 70kg. For me progress is increasing weight with minimal fat.
Probably because the vast majority of the people that come through here are significantly overweight? It's not like OP and the rest of us don't know tiny dudes and skinny-fat guys pass through here as well. It's probably just simpler for the OP to cater to the majority instead of writing every alternative reason for why you should be hitting the gym.
