With pro athletes there are measurables that let them know their skills are diminishing. Their fastball goes from 95 to 88. The WR is running a 4.7 and can’t get separation anymore. The basketball player is breaking down and can only play 20 minutes a night. With women there isn’t really a measurable. If she was serious about marriage from the start, she would be one of those women who was already married. in equal populations of men and women, demand is exactly equal to supply. so when she says she had no problem finding boyfriends in her youth (i.e there was a surplus of supply) that is literally only possible if its at the expense of supply elsewhere down the line.

i.e the only way that 20 somethings can have a flood of offers is if other age brackets are also chasing the 20 somethings, as otherwise the number of 20 somethings men and women is completely equal.
