Ok so here’s a secret. Woman get hit on in person all the time. Our inital reaction is to ALWAYS say we are taken. So here’s what I suggest. Like the others said build a little more rapport so it doesn’t come off as you only attracted to her looks. Don’t ask if she’s taken/single . Ask her for her phone number or give her yours. If she says she’s not looking to date say something like “I wasn’t either until 5 min ago when I met you, here take my number anyways, we can take it slow and get to know each other.” Girls will build walls just for strong men to take them down. If your nocking at the wall and asking politely can she take it down it will always be a no. We want to see who’s willing to climb that wall and destroy it because we are worth it.

I remember the good old precovid days here in Canada, specially in university clubs.

As a scene leader I would talk to anyone any where to promote the club. It also opened doors to talking to people from our club when I see them in other places. Really teaches you how to talk to people specially while being goofy, and friendly in an outdoor events to get more people. Idk why this post reminds me of all that and pokemon lmao.

You 'gotta (keep) catching em all' as much as you can to increase the number of women around you. You can also use women to get to other women (or a pokemon for getting another). But that's a little tricky at times. Good approaches! I have never approached a girl that's working, so that's something I need to do once I start going out again.

Good start OP. I think for the food festival, you should try asking any girl you like if they're food is good and try have 10 min conversation to build rapport. Then you can tell them you're interested and ask for their socials/number or even insta date and invite them for a drink at a nearby bar.

I think direct has it's place, but you're also forcing them to make an assesment of you within seconds of meeting you. If you give them some time to warm up to you, and you show you're at least socially attuned enough to hold a conversation, you'll get way better results from my experience.

Some pointers to reflect on:

- When hitting on women at work calling out the faux-pas of doing so will lessen its impact, "I know it's social faux-pas since you're working...." It just make you seem better socially calibrated. Psychologically, she's not allowed to think it if you say it first, as odd as it sounds. At a more intermediate-advanced level, if you can get her to give you permission to hit on her it will go better, "I have something I want to tell you, but I know you're working and don't want to get you in trouble." If she says, "No tell me" she's basically pre-accepted anything you tell her since she invited it. However, doing this your tonality, body language, etc. needs to be calibrated - so it's something a bit more advanced. In these early stages your directness will get you better results, but just keep these things in mind as you develop.

- For the second case, she gave you a condition, not an objection. She didn't say it directly but what she likely meant was, "You haven't offered me enough value and/or comfort for me to yet consider you as a romantic prospect." So, the play here was likely to back off but flirtily, "Let's at least trade names first before committing to a non-relationship." If you say this right it'll knock her back a bit - she might be slightly put in her head that she said something presumptive or jumped the gun. However, I'm not sure what happened with the intermediary exchanges you referred to.

For approaches at the workplace, being more direct that you're not just chatting as a customer can be good. However, for approaches in public like scenario 2, she knows you're there to hit on her because you approached her at all - you can assume that your reasoning is sufficiently implied. So, lines that reinforce this but also frames it in a masculine way. For example, a cocky-funny line might be, "I just wanted to provide the opportunity to share your nachos with a cute boy." Just know that your tonality and body language need to be on point. This is more likely to instigate a shit test like, "What makes you think I'd want to share my nachos with a stranger?" To which you might respond, "Well, have you looked at me?"

The main theme at your stage is to stay in the set longer vs giving up. Unless you get a clear, "Go away" it's generally OK to stay even if you get conditions.

Good job putting yourself out there. However (this isn’t just you who does this), I wouldn’t approach someone who’s working. They are doing there job, give them some space. They’re the easy low hanging fruit because they are being paid to be nice to you, but it puts them in a tough spot. There are millions out there who aren’t working to approach.

What surprised me so much is how happy most girls are when they get compliments. Idk if it's good game (I'll leave that to the more experienced daygamers) but it's always a great feeling to tell some random girl how cute she is and have her beaming with the biggest smile and thanking you. It really changed my perspective on how most women think, because my assumption for years was that they would spit and scream and mace you and call the cops if you so much as acknowledge their appearance.

Also, good work. These are both solid approaches.

good but next time don't go straight to the "hitting on her", just talk to her casually and be interested in starting a conversation, then introduce yourself if you get the chance.
