I’m in a big city, NYC. Most people here walk with brutal efficiency, and don’t enjoy random strangers talking to them. What can I do?

Don’t bother people in the street when they are busy walking, they will think you are a lunatic. Find places where people are more receptive to communication.

Whenever someone in NYC has approached me it has always been for money, some charity petition, a religious tract, or because they were generally off. There is nothing in the world that would make me stop for a stranger in the streets of NYC, nothing. Ain't nobody got time to hear a sales pitch or risk being stabbed.

You'd have better success in a bar or some other social area. The aforementioned people usually don't frequent those places so people will be less guarded.

Simple, if someone looks busy or focused on something, leave them alone. No one wants to be stopped and maybe miss their train or bus, be late to a meeting etc. Go for people who don't look like they need to be somewhere

Also, if you are trying to seduce or pick someone up, the advice about clubs or bars is totally correct. Don't try on someone who looks occupied...

As a Jersey City-er who goes to NYC often:

A. The way you become more approachable to women is by going to settings that women are more willing to be approached by - bars, clubs, house parties, that sort of stuff. Absolutely nobody wants to be stopped in the middle of the street going about their day. You could maybe make an exception if it’s a weekend night and both of you have obviously just come out of a club. Another exception might be talking to people on the train / bus, but that’s a BIG IF and if you notice signs that she’s not into it, leave her alone right away.

B. Assuming you’re talking to women in the correct settings, watch your body language and eye contact. Make sure that when you position your body, you aren’t physically blocking her or cutting her off from being able to get out should she want to (don’t stand in front of her if she’s got her back to the wall, don’t set next to her if she’s sitting inside a booth, but sit opposite her instead).

Women are often consciously / subconsciously afraid that men might potentially hurt them given the physiological differences, so you need to give her some space in terms of how you position your body in relation to hers.

When people are walking that fast you need to have a strong reason to approach them for example - Asking for directions, Direct compliment. Find a place where people are standing instead like the subway station when they are waiting for a friend. Alternatively go into shopping malls when people are browsing clothes, books, coffee shops and are more receptive to approaching.

Here's some reading on the subject. Personally I have an approach based on this and I apply it somewhere else than NYC - it works, I'm assuming it'll work even better in NYC. Might need some tweaking to fit the times and your personality though.

Only visited NYC a few times but each time the women were the same there. If anything the younger girls were excited to try new things and talk to people. So what can you do? Idk, we don't know what exactly you're doing. Most likely what and how you're talking is either boring or your body language is self sabotaging you. 1) Having lived in LA for a while, believe me, DG is much easier here. This is a naturally social city.

2) NG is amazing here.

3) To understand both of the above, just follow whatever pickup content gets you approaching, and apply it.

Day game is such a waste of time unless you are 18-25 and got nothing else going on. Instead, I would go to hot yoga,Hitt class or in big cities they have MLM who have a bunch of hot 20-something females trying to sell you herbal life or whatever the fuck.I would then invite them out to so and so at the club, or if you hate clubbing go invite them to a hike.

I personally had a lot more lay's going this route.

option 2 tell them you are a promoter (doesn't have to be true) you should be networking with guys who are dj's or promoters and tell them you know a lot of girls because you are a frat bro (doesn't have to be true) just don't stick on those topics.

I actually was a Promoter and DJ at age 22-25 for 4 years I rarely got laid by new girls however I did have a few fuck buddies. I think my lay rate was about 2-4 new girls a year but i did have a ton of girls I only did oral stuff with for whatever reason. I think 16-20 years ago women weren't as open to fucking as today's women at clubbing ages

My sure-fire way? Stop them and ask for directions. You can do this ANYWHERE. ANYTIME. To ANYBODY.

“Excuse me, are you from around here? I’m trying to find “a Good place to eat” or “a good place to hang out”, etc. (The idea is being vague for them to think alittle.)

You can test it out around Times Square. Either they help you or they don’t. You can do this SHAMELESSLY all day long.

Once they help/ engage you, you steer interaction the way you want it to go.

My idea of using this is particularly if they’re coming at your direction, so you can almost just stand there or get in there path (but don’t be overzealous). It also helps to look alittle like you’re lost (do not go overboard), in order to not look like a salesperson.
