Which I guess counts as a form of progress.

Here are all my problems: I'm scared to go out, scared to approach, eject at the first sign of adversity, rarely escalate, never close anything, get easily discouraged by failure.

So yeah all of those are bad but I'm starting to think they are all just SYMPTOMS of a much bigger problem which is this: socialization and attraction aren't part of my reality.

I haven't made a new friend in like a year. I've NEVER gotten anywhere with a girl I met in a club or bar or whatever. Only girls I have gotten with were from social circle, school, work, or internet (yes I am ashamed of that last one).

So even though I know how one-night stands are supposed to work, and that girls are always out there who are down for it, it's hard to actually see myself doing it because its almost alien to me. Kinda the same thing for all interpersonal relationships: even if I talked to a guy who shared a lot of interests with me while I was out, odds are it just wouldn't occur to me that he might like to be friends so I just wouldn't pursue a friendship.

This is a definite pattern I've noticed in myself and it strikes me as a whole lot more of a problem than something like approach anxiety or improper kino or whatever. Maybe some of you can relate.

I'm thinking the only hope of getting over this is faking it until I make it... forcing myself through the motions of forming relationships until doing so seems natural to me. Anyone on here who's got this shit handled ever used to feel like this? Any stories about how you overcame it? That sure would be encouraging right now.
