If the opportunity arrises yes definitely but I don’t just walk up and straight cold approach. Over the years I’ve probably slept with 6-7 girls I’ve met at the gym. None I just walked up cold and tried to pick up, but all were just over natural interactions like using the same machine at similar times across multiple days and then striking up conversation over that. Coming and going at the same time, sharing did you see that moments, etc. I think in all cases we had at least 3-4 such interactions before I moved to the next level and said something with a flirty edge to it.

I think you should just be extra considerate not to bother anyone. Look for signs of interest, make eye contact, follow your good feeling. Exchange few words here and there and observe if girl is enthusiastic about interacting with you.

Try to be social with everyone for social proof. I don't see any problem in dating girls from gym because you have at least one common interest, but you don't have to approach them because you will see them again, just chat.

Maybe you can be more direct if you see that she likes you, usually you can feel that.

I use to smile at the reception girl all the time and she was very receptive. I asked her a basic gym question one time and she introduced herself to me. I asked her out in a date and she said yes. Date did not go well cause I’m probably autistic (haha not really, just low self esteem at the time) and it was a bit awkward afterwards.

But it was a good experience for me cause it made me reflect a lot about myself and why I had such low self esteem at the time

But to answer your question, I think you need to feel the vibe. I knew the girl would say yes based on how we were always smiling with each other

if the opportunity arises, then go for it. It has to be subtle and also an almost slow burn approach, but just because people say you shouldn't doesn't mean you can't. i go to lift, although if i can eventually find a GF out of it, then it's a win-win.

Actual strategy here OP.

I moved recently. I talk to ALL the regulars that I see during my time. The guy at the front desk as I walk in, the two bodybuilders crushing it daily - ones a woman, and whoever else I see routinely.

Be friendly! Ask about their diets or workouts. Some people don’t want to talk. It’s not hard to pick up on. Don’t push it, and don’t waste their/your time if someone is on a serious lift.

This brings us to approaching women. If done correctly, you’re established as a non creepy guy. If you see a girl you like, DO make eye contact. Don’t hide from it. When she looks back, smile - can give a subtle head nod too.

1 of 2 things will happen here.

She’ll ignore entirely. Don’t approach. She’s not interested. Maybe the next day or week she’ll react differently. She’s there to workout today.

Or

She’ll smile back. Ideally with a little laugh. That’s your signal. Talk to her when appropriate. Key here 🔑 Don’t be pushy. This is still your gym. You will see her again. It should be a less flirty conversation.

If it went well, you can get her IG. If it didn’t, please read this, still be friendly! It should be passable, that you only approached to talk, with no deeper motive.

so many poor adivces here "no i am here to workout" nonsense. I am going to the same gym for last 10 years almost the same time. Here is what i noticed.

its totally ok to approach the women in the gym. Women also approach men. nothing wrong it.

I have seen plenty guys who approached who are now in relationship with "hot women".

I myself got approached plenty times by women there.

Here is the thing.

always wear good clothes. Just beacuse its a gym doesnt mean you can wear anything. Trust me, most women care and notice.
basic grooming is must.

You'd be suprise how much success you will get.

i get approached, a few times in the gym. a lot more out in public. maybe once every 1-2 weeks. i put some tips down below.

always look nice. i know wearing baggy clothes at the gym is the style but always make sure facial hair is groomed. eyes white. skin healthy.

go to the gym at the same time. how is someone that is attracted to you supposed to muster up the courage to approach if they can’t plan it?

talk to everyone, everyone deserves respect. no bullshit i let ANYONE work in on my workouts/ machines if i see them waiting, when i’m done i ask them their name and write it in my notes app along with the date and anything that might’ve came up in convo. also talking to the older gentlemen/ woman is nice, that often times like socializing and means a lot to them.

once the shortys notice that everyone knows you they will fomo and start making more obvious attempts.

they’ll stare from across the room. follow you around. ask dumb questions like “are you using these weights” when they’re clearly racked. or they’ll come and rack weights near you when there is room where they were working out.

if girls aren’t throwing signals i wouldn’t approach. maybe strike up a convo if you’re waiting for a machine or need to borrow a plate but some people are really going through it and everyone goes to the gym for different reasons.

thank god im positioned as the social and charismatic guy at the gym, i’ve dmd girls i’ve never spoken to and it’s never backfired just because i’m known to always check on people and help out in general.

getting female attention is a byproduct, put in effort in the gym and all social interactions and you’ll get so much attention it’s overwhelming.

I did it the other day, worked out a lot better than expected I think the key to it is to not approach them mid set. Even if they have headphones in you can still approach just say something like “hey I’m looking for new songs for my gym playlist, what are you listening to.” Confidently approach is the big one

This is one of those walk through open doors places, not knock on closed doors places. Meaning if you’re getting consistent signals from someone at the gym, you’ve interacted with them a couple times, and then asking them out seems like a no brainer, sure go for it. Otherwise don’t just cold approach women at the gym.

I approach everytime I go to the gym, problem is many super over sensitive women will report you for just approaching. My bad habbit is I approach so many girls I often forget the ones who rejected me , then if I accidently approach them again (not remembering I spoke to them first), they report me, and the gym staff come a talk to me. Luckily I have not been kicked out, but borderline have. I have gotten numbers from the gym. I personally don't like gyms because you gotta be super proffesional.

That’s why you still skinny. As a beginner just focus on training. That’s why you will always stay skinny. You need to build mind and muscle connection. And really be in as a meditation. It’s better to train in a garage or whatever. To be into the muscle and not be distracted by lust.
