I'm in my late 30s, borderline morbidly obese, no job, no girl, hide in my apartment all day, brain damage, mental illness, personality problems.

I hear a lot of stuff in PUA text like "nothing matters but confidence" but at SOME point one has to take honest stock of what one is. There really isn't any reason for me to be confident, unless it's some weird abstract thing like being grateful to be alive or happy to be a human or some nonsense like that. To a degree, the mating game is all based on hierarchy: men pick the best women, and women pick the best men. And I'm one of the worst men, objectively speaking.

I think also to a degree the PUA game is about fooling women into thinking you're higher-status than you really are by imitating some of the behavior patterns of true "alpha males", or "naturals", or whatever you want to call them. I think it's just a matter of time before women start to see through this sort of gaming and realize that it's a hoodwink, something analogous to fake tits or bad lighting. But, I digress.

My central point -- and it actually relates to my digression -- is that I'm just not qualified for this. I'm not high-ranking enough to get the very pretty very smart women, and pretending that I am is going to feel dishonest and come across that way. And I'm not sure that I can solve all of the problems I mention in paragraph 1. I think the world of dating might not be for me...much like the world of the job market. They're related: both are about "making people want you," and there's just no way any entity could want me, in any way.

Maybe this post belongs in /r/foreveralone, /r/depression, or even /r/suicidewatch. I guess this is what people are talking about when they mention "inner game", and the whole sleazing-women-into-bed thing starts to mutate into a self help seminar for frat bros?

That's all.
