So I am no professional at texting, but I've done it so much I've noticed patterns and have developed theories based on my experiences. Here they are, in no specific order:

  1. Texting is dangerous. When you send a text, it is set in stone. There is no undoing a sent text. She can read that text a hundred times if she wants to. Plus, texting is like walking around blindfolded. Unlike in conversation where you have body language to read off of, you have no idea what her initial reaction is to reading a text. In fact, texting is so dangerous, most PUAs constrict their texting to only setting up dates. I go a little bit further and use texting to stay relevant in a woman's life.

2.Texting is not a replacement for conversation.

  1. Do not be afraid of running out of things to say. The great thing about texting before a date is that it can lay the groundwork for more advanced conversation. If I ask her a basic question over text, when I meet her in person I can start a conversation based on her answer when we were texting.

  2. Text at relevant hours and be sporadic. I text like I am living a full life, regardless of where I truly am. Therefore, I don't text between the hours of 9 to 5 and I wait until after 8 before I send any texts. You want her to think you are sending a text out of interest for her, not out of boredom in your own life. I also like to be sporadic with my texts. Being predictable is a turnoff I try to avoid.

5.Do not try to time your texts. It ruins the flow of the texting conversation if you try to time when you send your texts. Plus it is a waste of time and energy. It is best to send texts when you've written them down, regardless of if they are "too soon" or "too late".

6.Texts should only be light banter. Important stuff should be said in person. In person, you can perfect your timing based on the situation and her body language. Texting, you have no idea what context she is receiving your text.

Texting is also different based on how far in the relationship you are. For me, I like to use texting not only as a tool for setting up dates, but also as an easy way to stay relevant in her life and give her a reason to be thinking about me.
