This is crazy, and I’m still in shock, so I had to share.

For context, I’m the kind of guy who’s never been approached in the street—not even a smile or warm eye contact. Honestly, I’ve always avoided eye contact with people; it’s been automatic for years. This matters because, about a week ago, I was with a friend at a Halloween parade in Hollywood, and he goes, “Are you getting all these eye contacts too? Everyone’s just smiling at me.”

That got me thinking, because to me, eye contact has always seemed like a minor detail, and I’ve ignored it for so long that I literally don’t notice if someone’s looking at me. When I walk, I just look straight ahead or around, never at people.

Meanwhile, I started reading a book on body language (I always thought it was BS, but figured I’d give it a shot), and there’s this entire chapter on the importance of eye contact. Second realization. I’m like, okay, maybe I’ve been missing out on something for all these years—let’s give it a try.

The next day, I’m walking along Venice Beach, and I set myself a goal: make eye contact with every (cute) girl I pass and see what happens. At first, it was super weird; my gaze would dart away as soon as they looked back (and tons of them do look back when you look at them! Even that felt like a breakthrough).

After a few attempts, I got two or three smiles, then I see this girl jogging towards me. She passes by, I look at her, she looks back, smiles, I smile back. It was brief but intense (at least for me).

I keep walking, and a bit further along, I somehow see her again (no idea how; she must’ve looped back or something). And, no joke, she literally approaches me. We talk, it’s smooth, she asks for my Insta, and on impulse, I just ask her out for the weekend. She agrees right away. I’ll keep you posted.

For context, I was dressed decently, I’m not a 10 at all but I can hold a conversation. And what’s wild is that on day 1 of practicing this, not only did I get eye contact and smiles, but I actually got approached by a pretty girl. Practice is key. Got the proof literally live.
