So it seems like to me that marriage is only half of the issues on this board. Why do I say that? Because dealing with the ex and custody generally is the part people complain about the most and that can and will happen if you’re married or not. So what if you’re done having kids like me? Well now the thing you have to worry about is alimony and split of ‘marital’ assets. Both of those things can be mitigated and protected by a smart prenup.

There’s a fabulous prenup video that’s been posted here in the past. Wording in a prenup like ‘we comes into this union, and will exit, as financially independent individuals’ plays on a women’s sense of power going into marriage and drastically will reduce your chance of alimony upon divorce. Make sure your pensions are protected. Split or even take a loss on assets gained during the marriage. Give her any thing she has or anything she will inherit. Toss in a lump cash payment based on years married for her to restart. Something like a grand a year then two grand a year after 10 years of marriage and cap it after 20 years. Make sure to add any divorce proceedings will be heard by a mediator and then call it a day….

Or you can just stay single and keep your options open and the cash you’d spend all to yourself. 🙃

I am still married, but I would argue against cohabitation as well. The trend is for the law to view you "as if" you were married if you live together (e.g. Canada, although one rich guy got fucked when he never lived with his girl). Also changes the relationship dynamic.

I’ve been on quite a few dates and had a few FWB‘s over the last three years for sure, but I think finding the right person for you is going to take a bit of time, just like it would with any of us. I think we’re all smarter and more experienced now after our divorces and understand the compatibility hast to go deeper than liking the same type of music or eating. The same sort of food, you need that connection that doesn’t have a word, that Vibe, that energy! And I think those people don’t come along every day, just keep your eyes out don’t be desperate and you’ll find the right person for you. In the meantime, just have some spinning plates to entertain you, my well is dry right now, had to bounce my last FWB, because I caught her lying,not cheating mind you, but lying all the same. So I’ve got to find a few more playmates, L O L, but still waiting for the right one to spend my years with.

But marriage is out!

This is not 1963. You can't avoid 'problems' that literally sustain lawyers, courts, utilities, psychologists, mortgage brokers, realestate or rental agents, and many other facets of social and commercial life - due to divorce, kids, and two dwellings. What you want to avoid is not 'accidentally' happening to you and if you were just a little smarter or more cautious you would be able to avoid it like those who avoided it before you. WHAT YOU'RE ASKING IS TO CHANGE THE NATURE OF THE SYSTEM IN 2023, which won't happen. You want to take money away from a system and keep it for you/kids/family, right? well, let us know how if you get it figured out. Does this mean you shouldn't have a family and kids? No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying find someone who understand the system that I eluded to above, and you understand exists, and how it influences YOU AND YOUR FUTURE WIFE AND KIDS and agree that you two would rather keep every possible penny from leaving the two of you, and subsequently the kids, heading to that system and making it fatter and bigger. If she does not understand what you're saying then teach her. If she understands but does not agree with you or thinks you're off your rocker or sexist etc. then next her.

Honestly, life’s a fucking risk. Everything we do has risk. It’s up to us to choose if the risk is worth the potential reward. If you are okay with going through the hell hole of divorce, then just try with the best women that fits your needs. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll you tried. Just understand the risks.

What did you discuss in the early days?

"I'm willing to be in a committed/exclusive relationship with the right person, but have no intention of remarrying or cohabiting". Some women are cool with this and some aren't. Many pretend to be onboard, but eventually loose their shit over it. Just be honest about your intentions.
