I have been lurking here for a few months and I figured it was time that I share my story. Like many of you, my wife decided three months ago that she was "unhappy for many years" and had "just fallen out of love with me". After the two most awful weeks of my life trying to figure out how I could fix things, I figured out she had been having an affair for the last six months. Talking with coworkers and reading your posts helped me work through the most difficult time in my life. I can't emphasize enough how much it helped me. Truly, thank you.

Now I am three weeks post-mediation and waiting for my lawyer to finish drafting the decree (supposed to happen today). I got nearly 50/50 custody (she gets an extra Friday each month during the school year). No child or spousal support. She keeps the house, but she is paying me out after a refi, so I can go find a nice new house with no memories of her. I have some regrets (would have liked to keep the house) but overall I think I am coming out of this in pretty good shape.

We are still living together, which is awkward as hell, but I am counting the days until the decree is filed and I can buy a new house and move the heck out of this one. My relationship with my kids is better than it has ever been. Now I just have to figure out how to find the me I want to be and build a new life without her.

I hope to give an update in a few months about how the stress of finding a new home is behind me and I am focusing on the rest of my life.

For those of you just getting started in the process, I wish you all the best. For those you that are steps ahead of me, I look forward to joining you on the other side.
