Heard a fantastic true story. I'll tell it, then I'll tell what I got out of it.

A very rich woman was in a fine restaurant. She asked the waiter(who was not a sommelier, eg wasn't an informed person), "what is your best wine?"

He hemmed and hawed, and started to fumble around with some of the wines he personally liked.

She said, "I didn't ask what YOU liked. I asked what the BEST was."

The woman who told me this story was aghast at the woman's rudeness. I smiled and nodded but all I could think was DAMN Queen. That's being very clear about what one wants and not putting up with bullshit.

In case anyone was wondering if she was being an entitled brat, I did ask the follow-up questions to confirm the water was not a sommelier and that he really did start mansplaining to this woman his ill-informed opinions.

This isn't about wine snobbery per se, it's about the absolute audacity of a young man to try to tell this VERY wealthy and wine knowledgeable woman he was being paid to serve, what HE thought.
