It's also too bad IMO that the article presents this as "fuel for conservatives." I'm no conservative. But I try to be objective (not, mind you, objectivist) and rational. To me this issue is one that has two valid sides and yet only one side is receiving social validation.

The only reason I subscribe to /r/mensrights is because it is the only way to reliably find examples of the side that isn't receiving social validation. My ex accused me of being an MRA because I didn't toe the mainstream feminist line hook-and-sinker. It's a very GWB-esque "with us or against us" attitude. (I find a disturbing number of parallels between conservative tactics and rhetoric versus aggressive feminist tactics and rhetoric.) But that vilifying absolutism gets a pass when it comes to gender issues, and I don't think that it should.

Well, this just gave Trump and his backers ammo to claim that the left constantly plays the race card. I'm guessing that within the next few days, Trump will point to this issue and say something about his disavowing white supremacists pause was just the left playing the race card like they always do and then point to Hilary supporting these black girls as another example as the left playing the race card to further their agenda and attack their enemies. I'm starting to believe that is actually the case sometimes, but I also think the right does pull some racist stuff too.

Probably off topic from the discussion you wanted, but this is exactly how the law is supposed to work. Individuals made an accusation and the police took that accusation at face value when conducting their initial investigation. It wasn't until evidence "surfaced" (I feel like in this case, the police didn't have to look very far) that the tables were turned at the accusers started facing assault charges. One of them is now even facing charges related to making a false statement to police.

The only thing that might have needed changing is granting the accused anonymity. (I say might because I don't know if they were ever named or not.)

The turnabout doesn't delight conservatives. If one political group had an uncritical knee-jerk reaction without evidence, their behavior is the problem, which they brought on themselves, not the turnabout, which only revealed it. It would have been wrong before the evidence even if the evidence had supported them.

Her tweet said "There's no excuse for racism and violence on a college campus." If she opposed racism and violence, she should keep up the tweet and keep opposing racism and violence even when the people she thought were victims turn out to be perpetrators.

Taking it down implies she doesn't oppose black women being racist and violent.

Many feared that the hard-won dialogue over racism on campus, the fragile moment of unity, would disappear under a wave of finger-pointing.

They were finger pointing! If they had waited for evidence, they wouldn't be on the defensive.

Maybe they were thinking and you weren't.

It's not a hoax if these three women committed crimes and lied about them.

If people believed them without evidence, they benefited from some prejudice, probably as much from sexism benefiting women as racism.

In this case it was too easy for people to believe and support these liars. Do you want it to stay that way? How about we treat people equally and not believe them preferentially because of their skin color or sex?

Since this is men's rights, I'll note that I hope women start feeling that they could be held accountable for lying and fighting as much as men are.

First off, the fact is that we don't truly know whether this was a hoax or not. I watched the video and it is totally inconclusive as to either supporting or denying the three women's claim. You can barely see past the crowd on the bus and the noise doesn't allow anyone to make out any sort of dialog one way or the other.

Now, considering that we do know that SJW types are prone to fabricating controversy, we still have to be better about evaluating these situations. Remember "innocent until proven guilty," guys? What's going on now is what we want to happen; a judicially-driven evaluation of the facts of the case. If these girls were truly harassed on that bus, then we want the alleged perpetrators tried and convicted if found guilty. And if it is determined that these girls made the whole thing up to cover up an assault, then we want the same to happen to them.

All that I am calling for is to put the brakes on a rush to vilify these three girls until all the facts are in. We claim to to be better than the SJWs...let's prove it here and not assume the worst until we know better.
