Feminist trolls on /MR

While you are calling this group 'trolls' I think that they are often responding to what they think is honest. And in the end, aren't people with those types of misconceptions the ones that need to have Men's Rights issues brought to their attention? In that case, we should definitely allow them here to engage in discussion. Sometimes having discussions about rights with people who you agree with get boring, and it doesn't help further the cause!

I am not about to turn the democratic-ness of Reddit into some kind of fascism. So yes, the mods aren't going to do anything about it.

If you can't handle dissenting opinions by responding maturely and rationally, then what are you doing on Reddit?

If you want to point out problems with their arguments, go for it. Or ignore them.

But I get the impression that some of the people you are calling trolls are simply people who don't share your extremist views.

As I've said many times, I don't support banning trolls. We need open discussion here, even with people that we don't agree with. It can get frustrating, but it's necessary.

I assume you're talking about atomicparrot and erszebet_b. I've had my own arguments with them, so I understand where you're coming from. I believe both of them are genuine, and not trolls. Their perspective is just different, and that's actually a good thing in the long run. I have noticed atomicparrot arguing from an exclusively feminist position lately. I haven't seen him give much or any support for the male position in some months. So I do understand your issue, but I don't think they should be banned.

This whole man vs woman thing, is total bs. Everyone needs to grow up and get over themselves and learn to be adults. I'm posting this here, but this goes for everyone.

The only reason I've subscribed to MR is to get a male perspective on issues. I'm a feminist, but more so for equal-rights for everyone, men, women, gays, religions, cultures and races. I personally care. However, I don't post often here, because I find that a lot of male subscribers tend to bare their teeth to opposing views, and would rather argue than actually debate a topic and educate others about issues they say matter to them so much. Not to stereotype all MR men, most of you are quite logical and provide good insight and help others see the bigger pictures. Isn't that the point of having a men's rights subreddit?

I think we need some women here, even if they don't agree with the hivemind of this subreddit, the problem isn't their speaking. The problem is their downmodding. It's as though some people (I won't say women, I can't tell) come here just to downmod every post and comment.

tomek77, I'm a woman who sometimes posts to MensRights. I do this because I think that the men's rights movement has some legitimate complaints, and there are often good discussions here. I don't know if I would label myself a feminist--I believe in equality between the sexes, and I don't identify with the radical feminist movement.

So I have a question: Would you prefer if there were no women in MensRights?

I'm sure this post is directed at me - since Tomek77, Jayhammers and a few others have been trying to discredit everything I post by responding with "well known feminist troll" to everything I post.

They represent a small but vocal part of this reddit that would really just like this to be a place for circle-jerking to whatever opinion they've decided is correct for everyone here to hold.

I may not agree with everyone all the time, but I don't think anyone could say I'm trolling. Note to Tomek77 - disagreement is not trolling. If you want to circle jerk in peace head to /r/mensrightslinks where they ban people they don't like before they even know that reddit exists.

One of the nice things about /r/mensrights is the high level of contentious discussion that goes on here, thats a good thing - you don't want an intellectually stagnant environment if you expect good things to come out of a movement. When orthodoxy of opinion enters the equation its a death sentence for any social movement.

I was banned from /r/feminisms for having a different opinion; I said that I don't think patriarchy is the cause of all oppression and that feminism held onto this idea the way an infant holds onto a blankie.

Different opinions are apparently okay, so long as we don't try having them over at /r/feminisms.

So do any of you hypocritical feminists book-burners want to explain why you find honest discourse so offence?

A simple question. If any of you 'sympathetic feminists' are genuinely concerned about men, why don't you help our cause more profitably by defending us on twochromosones or on feminist blogs?

And this isn't about wanting a circle jerk. It's about men discussing and debating issues that are relevant to themselves..with each other, and not letting our voices be drowned out by feminists with questionable motives.

All you are interested in doing is twisting our agenda to suit your selfish interests.

And yes, I would urge all genuine supporters of men's rights (posters and commentators) to switch to http://reddit.com/r/mensrightslinks.

By the way, this reddit has dropped down Google's rankings for 'men's rights' since we launched our own version. So part of our mission has been accomplished. It's sad, as with intelligent moderation this would be the perfect 'home page' for the movement.

These trolls are probably sick and tired of all the 12 year olds who troll the feminism boards with things like "get back in the kitchen." and "lol, there's no forest in a kitchen." So they're unjustly taking it out on a MensRights board, but none of the arguments here are so stupid.

An interesting thing about this post is that it has 115 up votes 82 down votes, so it would appear that those who agree with op are are in the majority. Yet when you look at the comments, the top comment is calling him an extremist.

Could it be that the number of feminist lurker trolls downvote brigade far harder then those of us who are actually men.

I've considered making a post like this and stating no feminists or women allowed in the title, so the men of this sub reddit could actually have a discussion about this problem without all the interference.

I doubt my advice would be heed though.

To be fair every time they respond to a post it means they are reading it. The more they read MR stuff the more they will subconsciously agree with it. I am for feminist trolls on reddit.
