Hello there! I am from Singapore, a country in South-East Asia with a population of roughly 6 million. We, like South Korea, Taiwan and Israel, have mandatory conscription for ALL MALES as young as 18 years old before university/college education.

Unfortunately, our conscription is one of the longest in the world, with a total of 2 flipping years. During this period, Males are BY LAW required to be present and participate in the Military. Although we have one of the highest GDP in the world, and the most expensive city in the world, we are paid a salary of only around S$650 (US$490) per month for two years. Our government doesn't even consider our payment as salary but more of a pocket money. Our entire Army in Singapore have never once fought in a war, but we are probably the only country with more deaths in training for us conscripted males then death in the battlefield.

You would think 2 years is more than enough - NO. ALL males who are conscripted will be called back periodically (once a year or two) for a total of 20 years until we are 40 years old - for some it's until 50 years old. This is utterly ridiculous. Our female counterparts upon completing secondary/high school/tertiary education are able to go into University and graduate 2 years earlier, and play NO part in contributing while us Males are literally being forced to protect them and the rest of the population just because one of our chromosomes is Y and not X. It is no wonder that we have more female graduates and degree holders than there are for males. In Singapore, our culture is such that males are the one paying for others/giving up seats for others. In fact our only notable Gender Equality Organisation (called AWARE) is more of a female-rights feminist idealogy Organisation.

It is highly regarded and unanimously agreed among many Males in Singapore such as (r/Singapore) that we are being mistreated.

I am sick and tired of peoole saying that males and females have wage gaps because hell in Singapore we can't even work for 2 years if we wanted to, and it's all the same for the entire world. I am sick and tired of the law being lenient to females while us males are left to suffer such as strict laws only for Males, rapes can only be done by men according to law and so much more.

I am TIRED OF THE United Nations ONLY FIGHTING FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS when the truth is Men's Rights are being disregarded.

It is time to change, I believe in Gender Equality, but it doesn't mean turning a blind eye to us.

Edit: If you are asking why women in Singapore are exempt from conscription, these are the main reasons:

1) Not to stress the entire population but only half (the males) so that society and economy still maintains order - so you know where the priorities lie.

2) Women have to bear children so they shouldn't serve (main excuse by many women) - unfortunately, Singapore, like many developed Asian and Western countries are experiencing extreme low birth rates -
