I think this pandemic is a really interesting time to date and be single. It's given the opportunity for people to have a very unique perspective on dating - which I think we can learn from.

I'll go first, anyway.

Bf of 3.5 years cheated whilst he was quarantined at his parents (we had to quarantine at different places due to work). I phoned him up and broke things off there and then and after three months (when lockdown eased) I got back put there.

My aim was to avoid relationships for a while, I had a few hook ups (and a threesome!) Via tinder, and stated on my bio I wasn't looking for anything serious. As covid got worse again, I decided it wasn't wise to see numerous people. I started having just one regular fuck buddy and we just became extremely close.

What started as just fucking became fucking and having meals and going for walks and partying together. Nine months down the line he asked of we could properly date - which I agreed to.

So here's a few positives and negatives from starting a relationship in the pandemic

PROS:

  1. Its very similar to dating as a teenager. You spend time together just 'chilling" and not going out to do stuff. This means you can get very close to one another

  2. Lots of sex! With so much time on your hands, you can fuck relentlessly.

  3. With less going on, there's less disagreements and dramas.

  4. You've seen how the other person copes with a stressful situation and depression.

CONS:

  1. You can't really 'shop around" for different partners. Therefore, finding someone you have chemistry with is hard. (Admittedly I was very very lucky in this regard)

  2. It is generally a stressful and emotional time for everyone.

  3. You haven't seen how this person deals with social situations, and you don't get to see their friends and how they interact with other people.

  4. Very limited in terms of finding stuff to do on dates.

  5. With not much going on, you can run out of things to talk about and tell them the same anacdotes for the umpteenth time.

It's a very unconventional way of dating and getting to know someone. But I think the pros outweigh the cons. You can develop a deep connection a lot better compared to pre-covid.

It seems very reminiscent of high school dating. You don't go on actual dates, rather you just 'hang out'. I'm also appreciating how important it is to see someone cope in a stressful situation.

My last relationship basically broke down because my ex couldn't deal with the stress of covid and it led him to destructive behaviour.

Anyways, Ide be I tested to see what other people's thoughts were
