I hate laundry day

I also hate doing laundry, other chores I'm fine but laundry is the worst! It can feel a little less of a chore of you bring the washing basket to the couch, sit as you fold and have some music playing or even watch the tv as you do it. :)

Laundry is the WORST. I can spend all day in the kitchen and wash a tornado of dishes no problem, but folding clothes makes me want to curl up into a ball and never emerge lol. Definitely following this thread for suggestions.

I LOVE doing laundry, so I can't relate :P the only thing I don't like is haning socks one by one to dry and struggling with large bedsheets on the rack (we don't have a dryer).

You can fold clothes while watching a show, listening to music/a podcast, chatting on the phone, waiting for the oven to heat up...

Or maybe you don't need to fold this much! How much closet space do you have? My mother hangs everything except pjs and underwear and it works well for her. Everything stays wrinkle-free forever.

You need to do laundry multiple times a week, more loads but smaller manageable loads.

Some chores just suck!

But what helps for me- Sunday is laundry day and clean sheets day but it’s also date night at my favorite restaurant! So the chores that day seem to fly by because I’m so excited for dinner time.

Making laundry day the same day you do something really fun might help.

I watched Marie Kondo’s folding video on YouTube and now my drawers looks so nice and organized so I have changed my mindset to take pride in my organizational skills now. Her technique for folding is very soothing, calming, almost meditative. I have also started listening to a good audiobook while folding.

The key is the sorting. Sort the laundry in the bedroom into several baskets so no one has to dig around in the dirty laundry for too long. I refuse to iron. Unless it is work clothes that need to be ironed to be presentable. If I have to I listen to audiobooks or watch TV.

I fold them in front of the TV or YouTube! If you can do a load a day that makes it easier. If you really can't stand folding check out marie kondos method.

Honestly..... I would do laundry every day and then do linens on weekends. If you can afford to do it. Then it's a small daily habit instead of a huge mountain.

I make laundry something fun for me and now I look forward to it! Since I have 4 kids I do at least 1 load of laundry daily. If I get behind I’m doing 3-4 loads in a day. My husband also wears multiple outfits (work clothes) and I do as well (workout stuff) so it piles up.

have a specific day and time you do laundry. I “tend” to my laundry in the mornings before I do anything else - that might be throwing a load in, moving something to the dryer or folding a load of laundry.
link it to something else for example the computer is downstairs near the laundry room so I will carry a load down and then play a game for a little bit on the computer. I also never let myself go down there empty handed if there’s any laundry to be done
have something enjoyable you do while folding laundry and take pride in what you are doing. I hated cleaning - seriously hated. Now that I’m like, “yeah my husbands drawer always has clean laundry. Look at me” lol. I also use folding laundry as an excuse to watch movies or tv shows (best done if this is a guilty pleasure type tv show lol). I just used folding laundry as a good excuse to finish watching a show I started with my husband but kept falling asleep through.
I’ve found timing myself doing things shows me just how little time it takes for me to do. Also it’s silly but setting up my phone and doing a time lapse video is really fun and helps keep me on track

Doing laundry is now no longer something I dread - it’s just a thing I do that i occasionally even look forward to doing now.
