Starting with a funny comment about your surroundings is usually a good way to do it too. Gives them a chance to comment as well without feeling forced.

Here's a challenge. Try talking with someone and see how far you can go without exchanging names. It's funny the longer you go before realizing you haven't "formally introduced ourselves."

This is my method. I go indirect with a situational opener and then I go direct.

For example, if I'm in an elevator with a pretty girl:

Me: Let's jump up at the same time. I promise it's safe! Her: Hahaha nooo! Me: You're no fun at all. grin What's your name? You're really cute, name, let's get coffee sometime. bring out your phone, all while flashing a sly smile

So basically start off with an indirect, situation opener, and then convey your romantic interest to her in no uncertain terms. Go from there.

Be playful, be persistent, and be passionate about your interest in her!

Sounds good to me but I think tonality is key to make it feel 'right'.

"Hi <pause, eye contact, smile> my name is X, pleased to meet you" etc.

You can improve it by saying "Hey <pause> I noticed how cute you are and couldn't help myself but come and say hello."

Or some variation - basically however you talk is the way you should deliver it, i.e. whatever language you use, more slang if you are less formal normally - just don't go in all cool and "good even ladies" and next sentence revert to "sup yo! lets hang at mine! gnarly!" or whatever...

Don't blurt it out like you are desperate to get it off your chest either - emotions are running high when approaching cold and you need to chill and relax and enjoy it, soak up the emotions and dominate them, don't go in your head etc.

To cut to the chase: it might come off creepy at first if you aren't super confident, but after some practice you'll feel so comfortable doing it that it won't feel creepy.

Most girls I use that kind of opening on tell me that they didn't feel like they had a choice but to talk to me, (mainly because they didn't ;), but they just were 'swept away' by the moment (this is usually during pillow talk I hasten to add...) - most girls get intimidated when a confident man approaches them from a non-egotistical place and they sometimes react strange (bitch shield or whatever) but that is usually just them being intimidated.

Keep in mind - a super confident masculine man who is comfortable in his own skin is the equivalent of a model hot girl - if a model hot girl came up to YOU and expressed her interest quite clearly, you might be a bit intimidated as well... when you execute this kind of opening correctly that is often the reaction you are getting - but the poor little ego will try and convince you its because she's a bitch or not attracted to you etc.

I'd start by commenting directly on her appearance something like "You look amazing in that xxxx, or wearing that xxxx. I just had to come over and meet you". depending on her reaction you can follow up with my name is xxx or whatever seems appropriate.

if she's wearing a north face jacket, approach with something like, "whoa, i have never seen such a unique jacket. its so out of the norm. who makes it?" make sure to smile enough for her to realize youre being sarcastic.
