Ehh... it's a lousy question really, it makes it seem like it's a choice between "Execute all women-murderers" and "Never execute women-murderers". And it can't properly be said to be sexist as it doesn't ask the reverse.

Although I don't know why I'm really saying this, since I already know the US hasn't actually executed a woman in years.

Why just ask about men murdering women? Is murdering women somehow worse than men murdering men, or women murdering men? I dont get this question.

I was hearing recently about a specific crimes division of the Italian police force known as the gender crimes division which handles cases regarding male on female violence and thought to myself "Why the fuck does that need to be a specific division of the police force? Why would you not just have a violent crimes division?" But I don't know much about the Italian cultural norms in regards to gender equality so I couldn't really pass judgment on it.

This topic reminded me because of how the question out forth there specifically states a man killing a woman.

It doesn't say the death penalty only applies to males it says in an case where a males kills a female should the death penalty be applied. It's a very specific question not a broad based question.

I'm against the death penalty all together. It costs taxpayers more to kill an inmate than to keep them alive, and if death is the easy way out. I want people to suffer. Life sentence should weigh pretty heavily on a person.

Of course, I'm also for Medieval style prisons: underground, dark, cold. You might get food and water if the guards remember. A bucket to crap in that may or may not get emptied regularly.

A very interesting social phenomenon emerged after this case.

earlier in the year Thomas Kelly was killed in Sydney in a random act of violence. Public reaction was shock and disbelief but there really wasn't too much said after the initial reaction

A few months later Jill Meagher was raped and killed which seemed to really catch the hearts and minds of the public. The reaction was nothing short of pandemonium. Jill's story has since been the catalyst for the above question and the development of an app that allows people to flag anyone as sex offenders, anonymously as seen on a voice for men

I personally have found this to be bizarre, almost surreal. I'm not going to overtly reduce this to a "Men v Women" dynamic (Even though these two stories do work out that way), but I'm at a loss to explain why Jill was so special?

The violent, senseless murder of anyone is tragic, but what makes the public invest so much in one murder victim but so little in another. To me both incidents were equally shocking, neither being more senseless or tragic than the other.

Edit: the young man had a name and I was compelled to edit this post to include it. It just goes to show the differing level of exposure each case has received

This isn't really a sexist question, it doesn't talk about the reverse situation. If it specifically said "should the death penalty be applied to ONLY men who murder women", then we would have reason to be angry.

I feel most people in this country feel that murder in general deserves the death penalty so if you asked this same question with women murdering men Im sure the results would be very similar.
