I find this a disturbing trend like when that woman tried to hit Gordon Ramsay I heard numerous women defend her and say she was stressed and he was aggravating her yet if it was reversed they would be trying to slaughter him.

Certainly not okay. I've allowed ex's to hit me and never once struck back, either because I don't want to hit someone smaller than me or I was scared they would call the cops even though they hit first.

One time though an ex punched me in the face for something I had said, so I punched her square in the chest, I just reacted I did not mean to. She fell gasping for breath then after gaining composure, yelled at me for hitting her and told her family and they called me a beater. After 4 years of her hitting me I hit her a single time and am labeled a beater...

Not okay.

It's nice to see a site devoted to male victims of violence. I have a few points of criticism however. Beyond the choice of a picture of woman being in distress, look at the particular wording:

Men are victims too, although estimates vary widely — anywhere from 100,000 to 6 million men in America are abused by partners every year.

So the average person will think that 6 million men is nothing compared to "1 in 4" women. However, if we look closely at the source:

Between 600,000 and 6 million women are victims of domestic violence each year, and between 100,000 and 6 million men, depending on the type of survey used to obtain the data.

As we know, victimization is comparable, the lower bound is higher for women most likely because they tend to report it more, and they are more likely believed.

Oh come on, if everyone punched someone every time they go pissed off we'd be in the world war 127. Firstly, people need to learn self control. Secondly, violence should be shunned regardless of gender and I can't see how a sane person can argue against that.

I'm in a relationship and have been hit, whether it was slapped/punched in the face because her anger/frustration boiled over too greatly, or grabbed/gripped by her nails and dug into my skin.

In self-defense, I've pushed her back forcefully enough for her to begin crying and threaten that she'd call the cops. The last instance of her smacking me was buried frustration, combined with my own 'buddhist-like' passivity when she went full-meltdown. I continued reading/studying from my textbook and because I 'ignored her tantrum,' she had right and cause to act/react as she saw fit. When I walked away and left the room, she then was infuriated because I 'walked away.' I stayed up late while she went to bed, which made her all the more angry. Thinking she would, you know, apologize, I waited...and waited and waited. She did get up, only to angrily ask "why wasn't I in bed working to make things better..." The conclusion was, she blamed me for her hitting me...

I cannot claim full innocence. In the past when she's gone out of her way to attack me and never apologize, in my self-defense, I've wanted to go farther and smack her back, or I have smacked her ass and pushed her away. That, and I've not yet left the relationship. It confuses me how a girl that comes from such a wonderful family can behave in this manner...and how I, a mere city boy from a blue collar family, takes it.

It's common today to see women feel it's ok because it's all around us. This reminds me of the book 'This is water.' When things around us are common, as if a mob mentality takes over, we don't think what we do is wrong. That, or we lack conscience and presence.

I'd never hit a woman. With that said, women that hit men, aren't women. They are girls, or villains, abusers and they have drawn themselves into conflict and deserve the consequences of their actions. Moreover, women will often use emotional/psychological attacks (their best weapon), knowing men cannot (and will not) attack back. Such women hope to be drawn into conflict and hit, so as to prove that men are the villian and the abusers.

I see a disturbing rise of divorce rates if this wanton lack of respect and one-way streetism continues.
