Here's my idea on how child support should work. The average cost of the child should be taken into account, not their parent's income, and split between them. On average it takes about 12k to raise a child per year, so both parents should have to pay $500 a month to a mutual bank account. You can't go over what you put in per year ($6k) and you can't withdraw from it either. All purchases are documented for the other parent to see, and depending on your custody level you may pay more or less child support to the fund (ex. 12k for a child, mother pays $400 since she has 60% custody, father pays $600 since he has 40% custody)

What do you guys think of my proposal?
