I feel like men have been academically disadvantaged for longer now than women were, assuming we're talking about the time period that a significant number of regular people actually had access to higher education. Meaning, we're not talking about hundreds of years when only nobility had access to higher education and the vast majority of normal people didn't. Despite this, I feel like we'll think of women as "historically disadvantaged" for the next hundred years, or forever.

This is literally what pretty women (not all) have been doing for ages, it has even increased since social media became a thing. Instead of seeing men like sex objects, the see them as attention givers. They text a guy for 2 weeks until someone hotter shows up, and so it goes on. That’s what happens when there’s low supply and high demand.

Smh how is it possible to observe the statistics and realize that for 40 years men have been the minority of college students and still try to find and focus on how it affects women? Western society, and especially its media, is fucking crazy.

My college in the 1990s had a big music department, and a lot of education, theater, and social science majors. I believe it was about a six to one female to male ratio.

It honestly wasn't so bad, but you really had to mind your Ps and Qs. A lot of the women were perfectly fine, but male administrators were sometimes horrible white knights and simps.

One of the school counselors started a small men's group, which helped me tremendously. This was back in the "Iron John" era, and men's rights weren't do controversial.

First of all, there's still lots of dudes walking around on campus that haven't been touched by a woman in years so, the demand can't be that high. Secondly, there are always other options for women. They don't have to date the guys that approach them on campus. They can find men off-campus as well and they can certainly initiate with those men even when they choose not to. A woman's options is never limited to the men that approach her first, unless she insists on it, and that is her choice to select mates based on their whatever courting schpeel they have rehearsed over compatibility and character. Online dating should be the great equalizer for men and women, but if women can't be bothered to take ownership in their own love lives and seek out the right kind of men, it will never work.

This is not from a lack of competition. There is always "competition" and those women probably still have plenty of potential options available to them. This is a problem of hypergamy or, rather, a problem with how women judge and value men. No amount of competition will ever fix this problem(It will just make life for men worse) because the focus will always remain on whatever women believe is socially/culturally most desirable. If you have women homogenously selecting the same type of men, either because they are overly dependent on peer pre-approval or see men as trophies to compete with other women over, then you will always have this problem.

“Golden penis syndrome” has led these smug males to engage in dastardly dating practices, such as cheating and ghosting, because they’re confident that another woman will always be waiting around the corner.

Something that a lot of women do on a regular basis, if not a significant majority of them, and yet I don't see articles like this addressing the problem as "golden vagina syndrome". The first response people would have to this is "men aren't entitled to a woman's time and attention", and the same could be said about these men. If women choose to over romanticize those men, if not specifically because they are romanticized by other women, and that gives them an over-abundance of options, why wouldn't they just try to make the best of it while they still can? When men are judged so severely by women for their lack of sexual experience and success, why wouldn't you expect men to fully maximize on the amount of experience and success being made available to them? And if you are unhappy with this small percentage of men having this much attention, why not address the source of that attention or the relevant social structures around it?
